FROM THE FOXES DEN – (unedited)

If you could un-invent something, what would it be?

Iโ€™ve browsed around some of the replies to this prompt and I must say Iโ€™m quite surprised. Surprised to see so many people wishing that social media could be un-invented. Now I am with these people 100%, I agree itโ€™s a breeding ground for hatred and vitriol, however as so many are already mentioning social media I feel I should suggest something else because to not do so would make this post quite repetitive and boring.

Well it will probably still be boring but here goes.

Addiction. If only there wasnโ€™t such a thing. Again itโ€™s one of those things that is good to have in certain scenarios but an absolute nightmare to have in others. Letโ€™s talk about the nightmare scenarios.

Keeping Your Side of the Street Clean

The smell of fresh rain lingered as Mark walked down Elm Street toward his favorite cafรฉ. It was his usual morning routine, a quiet moment before the day unraveled. He reached the entrance. Then he saw himโ€”Greg Turner. Greg was leaning against a lamppost, arms crossed. He was watching him with a smirk that dripped with disdain.

Greg had never made it a secret that he disliked Mark. Their history goes back to a business deal gone wrong. Mark handled it ethically, but Greg saw it as a betrayal. Since then, Greg had made it his mission to smear Mark’s name. He spread rumors and whispered doubts into the ears of anyone who would listen.

Mark adjusted his posture, exhaled slowly, and kept walking. He knew better than to engage.

“Hey, Mark,”ย

Greg called out loud enough for people at the cafรฉ’s outdoor tables to turn their heads.

“Still fooling people into thinking you’re the good guy?”

A few customers looked up from their coffee, eyes shifting between them, waiting for a response. Mark felt the moment’s weight pressing against his back, the temptation to defend himself bubbling under the surface.

But he had learned something long agoโ€”some battles weren’t worth fighting. Not in the mud. Not at the expense of his peace.

He turned slightly, just enough to meet Greg’s gaze, and nodded.

“Good morning, Greg.”ย

His voice was even, void of malice, but firm. Then, without another word, he stepped inside the cafรฉ.

The barista, Sarah, greeted him with a warm smile.

“The usual?”

Mark nodded as he took out his wallet.

“Yep. And maybe an extra shot of patience today.”

Sarah chuckled as she prepared his coffee.

“Don’t let him get to you.”

He shook his head.

“I won’t.”

Moments later, as he stirred his coffee, he glanced outside. Greg was still there, now talking to someone else, his hands animated, spinning another version of his tired tale. Mark took a sip, savoring the rich warmth of his drink, and let the moment pass.

There was no need to wade into the mess or wrestle with the bitterness that wasn’t his to carry. His conscience was clear. His integrity was intact.

He walked out of the cafรฉ with his head high. His side of the street was clean. Mark was guilt-free and ready to face his day. He had not gotten down to Greg’s level; even better, he showed respect for doing so.

GOOD TIMES REMEMBERED

Crosby & Hope

For many, the good times meant youth spent without barriers. Kids rode bicycles freely around town or through the countryside. They explored wherever curiosity led. They just had to be home before dark or by 10 p.m. It was when running to a friendโ€™s house, unannounced was safe. It felt just as natural for them to show up at yours. We all cherish that time of freedom and spontaneity.

Your version of the good times began when you got first place as a young adult. You also got hooked up to cable television. Gone were the days of only three channels. Now, there were forty or more. Channels like MTV, HBO, and SHOWTIME offered endless entertainment. Some kept their televisions locked on MTV 24/7, not wanting to miss the latest music video premiere. The phrase โ€œI want my MTVโ€ wasnโ€™t just a slogan; it was a way of life.

Icons like Downtown Julie Brown, Max Headroom, Randy of the Redwoods, and JJ Jackson became daily companions. They guided audiences through interviews and music video countdowns. These shows entertained us and shaped our memories, creating connection and nostalgia.

Yet, while MTV rocked for many, others fondly recall Saturday mornings. They spent time with classic cartoon characters. They watched Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, and Yosemite Sam. Or they enjoyed Speedy Gonzales, the Flintstones, or the Jetsons. These beloved characters live on today, often appearing in rebranded forms and often in commercials that spark nostalgia.

For earlier and later generations, laughter came from entertainers like Pinky Lee or Pee-wee Herman. In the 1950s, Pinky Lee brought his lively antics to television. He appeared first in a primetime variety show. Later, he starred in a childrenโ€™s program sponsored by Tootsie Roll. His Emmy-nominated show paved the way for future quirky entertainers. Pee-wee Herman was one of them. His distinctive gray Glen plaid suit, red bow tie, and eccentric persona owed much to Leeโ€™s energetic style.

Beyond television, the good times existed in life’s simple pleasures. One was the crackle of a baseball game on the radio during a warm summer evening. Another was the scent of fresh popcorn at a drive-in theater. The excitement of getting that first car was thrilling. Sheer will and a little duct tape held it together.

For some, the best times were spent playing Pac-Man and Donkey Kong in arcade halls. They also glided across the roller rink beneath spinning disco lights. Others made mixtapes from the radio. They hoped the DJ wouldnโ€™t talk over the intro of a favorite song. Others remember cruising on a Saturday night, windows down, music blasting, with no destinationโ€”just the pure joy of freedom.
The good times were about more than the entertainment we consumed. They were about the people we shared them with. Families gathered around holiday meals. Friends packed into a car for a spur-of-the-moment road trip. Conversations under a star-filled sky became treasured late-night memories.

Each generation has its version of the good times. These moments shape us and leave lasting impressions. They bring smiles long after theyโ€™ve passed. No matter what era you look back on, one thing is sure. The good times do not last forever. But they always roll on in our hearts. They create a sense of continuity and belonging.

What is your favorite best-of-times recollection?

Loneliness and Connection: The Maple and the Crow

The Maple and the Crow

In the quiet corner of Oakridge Park stood an old maple tree. Its branches stretched wide, offering shade to picnickers in the summer and a golden glow in the fall.

It had seen many seasons pass and many creatures come and go, yet it always felt lonely. It never had a friend to share its days with.

Then came the crow.

The bird arrived one blustery afternoon, perching on the maple’s lowest branch with a ruffled look. Its wing drooped slightly, and its usual subdued sharp claws.

“Shoo!”ย

The tree whispered as the wind rustled through its leaves. It was not quite ready to accept this new presence in its life.

But the crow did not move.

Day after day, the crow lingered.

Caw Caw!

It hopped from branch to branch, picking at the bark, watching the world below. It cawed at passing dogs and tilted its head at children chasing kites.

“Why are you still here?”ย

The maple finally asked.

“Nowhere else to go,”ย the crow replied. Its voice carried a hint of resilience. The tree had never heard this before.

The crow replied.

For the first time, the tree understood what it meant to be lonely. The Maple had never considered this feeling before. The sun rose, the rain fell, and its roots dug deep. But watching the crow, it felt something newโ€”a quiet companionship.

The maple began to enjoy the crow’s presence. It let its leaves shiver in the wind to make music for the bird. When the crow felt strong enough to fly, it still returned, perching in the same spot.

Seasons passed. The maple grew older, and its branches were not as strong as they once were. But the crow remained. It brought stories of faraway places. These places had mountains that touched the sky and rivers that sang in the moonlight.

And when winter came, and the tree stood bare, the crow nestled close against its trunk.

“I will stay,”

 The crow promised.

“I know,”

The maple replied.

And so they remained, an old tree and a watchful crow, an unlikely friendship rooted in time.

Harmony in Chaos: Finding Peace in Urban Sanctuaries

3โ€“4 minutes

In a bustling city, alive with clashing opinions and hurried lives, everyone respected an unspoken rule. Your space is yours, and in it, you reign supreme. It didnโ€™t matter if it was a sprawling penthouse overlooking the skyline. It is a cozy corner in a crowded apartment. Or it is a patch of pavement under a tattered umbrella. Whatever boundaries you claimed, those were the limits of your kingdom.

Take Mrs. Hargrove, for instance. Behind her red-painted door in a quiet cul-de-sac, the world was a sanctuary of classical music. Fragrant lavender candles filled the air with their scent, and books were piled high in every corner. Her rules were simple: shoes off at the door, cats welcome, and no conversation louder than a murmur. Beyond her door, the city roar with chaos, but inside, her sanctuary hummed with the warmth of gentle living.

A few blocks away, Alejandro held court on a sidewalk square. He was nestled between a lamppost and the entrance of a busy coffee shop. His throne was a battered lawn chair, and his walls were chalk-drawn lines on the pavement. Within those lines, Alejandro was both king and philosopher. Passersby often stopped to chat, offering a coffee or sandwich in exchange for his wisdom. His space, though humble, operated on principles he cherished, like kindness first, stories over silence, and always having respect.

Meanwhile, on the tenth floor of a downtown high-rise, siblings Jordan and Tamara lived in a small two-bedroom apartment. They turned it into a vibrant world of their own making. The walls were covered in murals painted by friends who visited. Their home was a haven of creativity where every night was a celebration of life. โ€œNo negativity allowedโ€ was their unspoken law, and those who entered left their worries at the threshold.

Even in the less obvious corners of the city, the principle held firm. Marcy, a young artist, had claimed an unused stretch of wall as her gallery. It was down an alley shaded by fire escapes. She painted over it weekly, layering it with bold, defiant colors. Though the cityโ€™s rules forbade graffiti, this was Marcyโ€™s domain, where her voice never gets muted. Locals respected her unwritten sovereignty, even the city workers, who cleaned around her artwork but left it untouched.

The beauty of the unwritten code was not just in the freedom it offered. It was also in the mutual understanding that accompanied it. Disagreements in the public square? Common. Heated debates at the park? Inevitable. But everyone knew that you honored their rules when you stepped into someone elseโ€™s space. You argue politics at the corner diner or challenge worldviews in the library. Still, you wouldnโ€™t dare speak out of turn in Alejandroโ€™s chalk-drawn palace or disrespect the tranquility of Mrs. Hargroveโ€™s quiet retreat.

This tacit agreement turned the city into a patchwork quilt of safe havens. Each space was unique. It reflected the ideals and beliefs of its occupant. Together, they wove a sense of unity that was stronger than the chaos beyond their boundaries.

One day, a storm swept through the city, bringing rain that soaked Alejandroโ€™s chalk lines and threatened Marcyโ€™s murals. As the wind howled, neighbors opened their doors to one another. Mrs. Hargrove invited Alejandro into her book-filled retreat. Jordan and Tamara turned their living room into an impromptu art studio for Marcy. Even unlikely alliances formed in those moments. They understood that when someoneโ€™s space was threatened, the rest of the city stood ready. They were committed to protect it.

When the skies cleared, the city was quieter, and its people were more thoughtful. The storm had reminded everyone of the fragility of their spaces. It highlighted the strength in preserving themโ€”not just their own but those of their neighbors, too.

And so, the unwritten rule endured. Within your space, you were sovereign. You were free to live, believe, and dream as you saw fit. The city remained a cacophony of voices and lives. Yet, it thrived by quietly revering the small sanctuaries that made it whole.

No More Tomorrow’s Forever

Javier stood at the edge of the city park. Staring out at the bustling streets of his new home in America. The golden autumn leaves danced in the wind, starkly contrasting the memories of his war-torn homeland. Javier had come to the United States to find refuge and hope. Yet, the events unfolding around him now gave him an unsettling sense of dรฉjร  vu.

Back in his home countryโ€”a place he no longer dared to name aloudโ€”Javier had watched the slow unraveling of society. It had once been a proud nation. Families like his owned small businesses. Children played freely in the streets. Communities were bound together by tradition and trust. Corruption spread throughout the country. Drug lords rose to power. Oligarchs infiltrated and bought influence with cold, hard cash. They sowed fear and discord, and before long, even the police and the government served their interests alone. The people were left with nothing but fear and silence.

He had fled that darkness, believing that America would offer something different. And for a time, it did. He found work, made friends, and even started to dream again.

But the cracks were showing. The unchecked greed was too familiar. The political maneuvering was too familiar. The way drugs crept into the neighborhoods under the guise of prosperity was too familiar. He watched politicians make promises while corporations tightened their grip on the economy. He saw his neighbors losing faith, their voices drowned out by the same wealth-driven forces he had left behind.

“No more tomorrows forever,”ย

Javier muttered under his breath, a phrase his grandfather used to say when hope felt like an illusion. He feared that history was repeating itself, that this land of opportunity was sliding down the same treacherous path.

One evening, Javier visited a local diner. He often met with his friend Michael there. Michael was an old war veteran who deeply loved the country he had served. Javier shared his concerns over cups of bitter coffee, finding solace in Michael’s understanding and wisdom.

“I’ve seen this before, amigo. Back home. The greed, the power, the division. It starts small, but it grows until there’s nothing left.”

Michael nodded, his tired eyes scanning the newspaper headlines.

“You ain’t wrong, son. This country’s got its problems. But we fight. We speak up. That’s the difference.”

Javier wasn’t so sure. He thought of his own country. There, people had fought and lost. Bullets and bribes had silenced voices for freedom. Yet, deep down, Javier wanted to believe Michael. He tried to think that this place still had a chance, that people could push back against the tide.

Javier left the diner. He looked around at the city skyline. The shining towers and the streets were filled with life. The battle wasn’t over yet, and maybeโ€”just maybeโ€”he could do something to help stop history from repeating itself.

The next day, he enrolled in a local community initiative to support struggling neighborhoods. Passionate individuals like himself led this initiative. They aimed to give resources and support to those most affected by the societal issues he had observed. He would share his story. He shared a warning and his hope. He believed past mistakes didn’t have to define the future. America still had tomorrow’s worth fighting for.

But deep inside, a lingering voice whispered,ย

No more tomorrow’s forever!”

Surviving the Darkness: The Krieger Family’s Courage – Shadows In The Dark

2โ€“3 minutes

In the spring of 1942, the Krieger family vanished from the small town of Marburg, or so their neighbors believed. The truth, though, was a testament to their resilience. Ernst and Klara Krieger lived concealed behind a false wall. Their teenage daughter Lotte was with them in the attic of their modest home. They clung to a fragile existence beneath the ever-watchful eyes of the Nazi regime.

Before the war, Ernst had been a respected tailor, his shop bustling with customers seeking fine suits and dresses. The war machine tightened its grip on Germany, and Jewish families like the Kriegers became targets. They had no choice but to vanish from public view. Ernst’s friend, Herr Becker, was a trusted carpenter. He had built a hidden compartment in their attic. It was a space just large enough for the three of them to survive.

Each day, Klara prepared sparse meals from the dwindling stock of supplies. She rationed every crumb with the precision of a soldier. Lotte, once full of life and laughter, now spent her days in silence. She read the few books they had managed to take with them. Ernst, ever resourceful, repaired uniforms in secret. He exchanged this favor with Herr Becker for smuggled food. They also shared whispers of news from the outside world.

Life under the radar was a delicate balancing act, but the Kriegers refused to let go of hope. They learned to move only when the town slept, their footsteps carefully muffled. They endured bitter winters without fire, their breath hanging in the frozen air like ghosts. Klara kept their spirits up with whispered stories of better days. She spoke of summers at the lake and the scent of fresh bread filling their home. They lived in fear but also in quiet defiance, their hope a beacon in the darkness.

One night, in late 1944, as the war neared its end, a knock at the door sent their hearts racing. Herr Becker’s hushed voice broke through the silence.

“The Americans are coming,”ย

he whispered through the floorboards.

“Stay hidden a little longer.”

Days passed like years until, at last, the sound of foreign voices filled the streets. The Kriegers dared to peek from their hidden vantage point. What they saw made their hearts swell with cautious hope. They observed Allied soldiers marching through the town. Their uniforms were different, and their faces were filled with determination rather than cruelty.

The danger had finally passed. Ernst and Klara stepped out into the light of a new morning. They held Lotte’s trembling hand. Their survival was a quiet miracle. It was a testament to the resilience, cunningness, and kindness of those who risked it all to help them. Their hearts were filled with gratitude for these unsung heroes.

Life was difficult in the next years, but the Kriegers rebuilt what they had lost. Ernst reopened his shop. Klara baked bread that once again filled their home with warmth. Lotte found her laughter in the sunlight. Though they had lived in the shadows for so long, they emerged stronger and free.

And in the attic, behind the false wall, they left a small inscription:

We survived. We endured. We are free.

The Man’s Journey For Two People Who Agree On Everthing

2โ€“3 minutes

A man named Walter Henshaw lived in a small town. This town was nestled between rolling hills. Walter was known for his insatiable curiosity, always pondering life’s mysteries. One evening, as he sat on his front porch watching the sunset, he wondered aloud,

“Is it possible to find two people in this world who agree on everything?”

The thought consumed him, and soon, Walter embarked on a journey around the world to find the answer. He packed his belongings, bid farewell to his friends and family, and set off on his quest.

Walter’s first stop was Paris, where he met a pair of artists who were painting by the Seine. They seemed in perfect harmony, laughing and finishing each other’s sentences. But when Walter asked them if they agreed on everything, they chuckled.

“Of course not,”

One replied.

“He thinks Monet is the greatest, but I prefer Van Gogh.”

Undeterred, Walter traveled to India, where he visited a monastery high in the Himalayas. There, he met two monks who had lived in silence for decades. Walter was sure he had found his answer, but when he posed his question, one monk smiled and said,

“I prefer tea; he prefers coffee.”

Walter traveled onward. He visited the bustling streets of New York City. Then he experienced the serene countryside of Japan. Finally, he explored the vast plains of Africa. He encountered lifelong friends. He met devoted couples. He even found identical-twins everywhere he went. Nonetheless, no two people ever claimed to agree on everything.

After years of traveling, Walter found himself in a small village in South America. He met an elderly couple who had been together for over seventy years. Patiently, they listened as Walter told them about his journey.

The older man chuckled and said,

“Young man, love is not about agreeing on everything. It’s about embracing differences and finding common ground.”

Walter sat in silence, absorbing the wisdom. He realized then that his journey had taught him more than he ever imagined. The beauty of human connection lies not in absolute agreement but in understanding, compromise, and the joy of diversity.

It also reminded him of one chap he had met in the United States who said to him โ€“โ€“โ€“

“Show me any two people who agree on everything, sir, and I will show you a pair of liars!”

Returning home, Walter shared his experiences with his friends and family. He had not found two people who agreed on everything. Still, he discovered something even more valuable. He gained an appreciation for the uniqueness that made each person unique.

Once a seeker of perfect agreement, Walter Henshaw sought harmony. He became a storyteller. He wove tales of his adventures and the lessons he had learned. He realized that life wasn’t about finding someone who thinks as you do. Instead, it is about learning to cherish the differences. These differences make life enjoyable and meaningful.

In the end, Walter’s journey had been about connection, not conformity. He found peace knowing that the world was more prosperous because of its endless variety.

2โ€“3 minutes

Maggie sat on her porch swing. The soft creak of the old chains was the only sound in the still afternoon air. The sun hung low, casting golden hues across her small Arizona town, but inside her chest, a storm raged. The day had been a whirlwind of mishaps. She missed deadlines at work. She had an argument with her sister. She also nagged worry about her aging father’s health. Each problem was stacked like bricks on her shoulders, weighing her with unresolved concern. She was in the midst of a battle for her Peace.

She sipped her tea. She hoped the warmth would soothe the ache. Yet, peace felt distant, like a mirage on the desert horizon. Her mind churned with “what-ifs” and “should-haves,” a relentless cycle that robbed her of the quiet she desperately craved.

Maggie took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She listened to the distant rustling of mesquite trees. Occasionally, she heard the bark of a neighbor’s dog. The natural sounds around her conveyed a message of resilience and adaptability. Slowly, she exhaled, reminding herself of her grandmother’s words: “You can’t stop the wind, but you can learn to bend.”

She stood and walked to the edge of her yard. Her fingers brushed over the delicate petals of the wildflowers. They had sprung up after last month’s rare rain. Their resilience struck herโ€”fragile yet persistent, thriving even in the harsh desert soil.

Realizing she couldn’t control everything, Maggie focused on the now. She let the day’s stress settle, acknowledging it but not giving it power. She watched the sky darken into twilight. The first stars peeked through. She felt a little lighter with each breath. It was the power of being here, of living in the moment, that brought her Peace.

She realized Peace wasn’t about escaping the chaos but finding a quiet place. And tonight, as the desert cooled and the cicadas began their evening song, she finally let herself rest. The relief was palpable, like a weight lifted from her shoulders, as she surrendered to the tranquility of the night.

Monday, January 20, 2025: Blue Monday โ€“ The Most Depressing Day of the Year

Blue Monday, which falls this yearย on January 20, 2025, is often described as the year’s most depressing day. It occurs on the third Monday of each January. Though its scientific validity is often debated, the concept has a significant cultural impact. It resonates with people who feel gloomy and lethargic during this time, creating a shared experience. Many can relate to it.

Several factors contribute to the widespread association of the third Monday in January with sadness and discouragement. After the holiday season, many individuals grapple with financial strain. They also face the challenge of returning to work or school routines.

The excitement and anticipation of the new year have faded. Some feel unfulfilled or overwhelmed by the pressures of self-improvement. Shorter daylight hours in the Northern Hemisphere can affect people. These changes can lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a form of depression linked to reduced exposure to sunlight. Colder temperatures also play a role.

Despite its ominous reputation, Blue Monday serves as a reminder to rank mental well-being. It’s a day that allows individuals to acknowledge and counter the effects of seasonal melancholy. Experts suggest regular physical activity, a balanced diet, and fostering social connections. Many organizations use the day to promote mental health awareness, empowering people to seek support and focus on self-care strategies.

Blue Monday lacks a robust scientific foundation. Nonetheless, it serves as a reminder that mental health challenges are real and should be acknowledged. Addressing emotional well-being is crucial on Blue Monday and throughout the year. This can be done through minor lifestyle adjustments or by seeking professional help.

On January 20, 2025, the United States observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is a federal holiday dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of the civil rights leader. He championed equality and nonviolent social change. This year, the day holds extra significance. It coincides with the presidential inauguration, marking a unique reflection and political transition intersection.

Honoring Dr. King’s Legacy

Communities nationwide engage in various activities to commemorate Dr. King’s contributions. The King Center in Atlanta leads the annual King Holiday Observance. They offer events like Nonviolence365ยฎ Training and the Beloved Community Commemorative Service. These events align with the 2025 theme: “Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence365.” The King Center

The 48th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in Miami is in Liberty City. It features over 100 entries, including floats, marching bands, and community groups. Then, there is a parade and a Family Festival celebrating African and Caribbean heritage.ย MLK Parade And Festivities

Civil Rights Leaders Mobilize

The convergence of Martin Luther King Jr. Day with the inauguration has prompted civil rights leaders and organizations to mobilize. They view the day as a critical call to action. Concerns over anticipated policies challenge progress in equality. In response, groups are organizing rallies. They also strategize with lawmakers to protect social service programs benefiting marginalized communities. Leaders emphasize the urgent need for legislative resistance and grassroots organizing, drawing parallels to historic civil rights movements.

Global Observances

Beyond the United States, people worldwide will recognize the impact of Martin Luther King Jr.’s work. International events occur. Educational programs are held. Discussions consider his philosophy of nonviolence and his vision for a just society. These global observances underscore the universal relevance of Dr. King’s message and the ongoing pursuit of human rights and equality.

A Historic Inauguration

This year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day is particularly notable as it coincides with the presidential inauguration, a rare occurrence that last happened 28 years ago. Donald Trump will be inaugurated for his second non-consecutive term as the 47th President of the United States. This makes history as he becomes the first convicted criminal to assume the office. He is also the oldest individual to do so. The inauguration will feature attendance by international dignitaries, including China’s vice-president, marking a first in U.S. history. Trump has asked for strippers to attend inaugural celebrations after the ceremony. Financial Times

Conclusion

January 20, 2025, is a day of profound reflection and significant transition. As the nation honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring legacy, it embarks on a new political chapter. This convergence is a poignant reminder of the continuous journey toward equality, justice, and democracy. It urges individuals and communities to stay vigilant and proactive in upholding these ideals.

To Stay or Go: Evaluating the Benefits of Remaining on Facebook in Light of Controversial Changes

Social media platforms have become integral to modern life, offering communication, connection, and community building avenues. Nevertheless, as these platforms evolve, so do their policies and practices, often sparking debate about their social and ethical implications. Facebook, a leading social media giant, has recently faced criticism. This criticism is due to changes in its policies on hate speech, bigotry, and LGBTQI support. For individuals making the decision about staying on or leaving Facebook, they hold the power to be informed. Weighing the benefits of both options is essential for this empowerment.

The Case for Staying on Facebook

  1. Maintaining Connections: Facebook remains a vital tool for staying in touch with family. It also helps keep connections with friends and acquaintances, particularly those spread across different regions or countries. For many, it is a lifeline to relationships that would otherwise be difficult to nurture.
  2. Community and Advocacy Opportunities: Despite policy changes, Facebook still hosts several groups and communities that support marginalized voices. These include LGBTQI organizations, social justice movements, and local advocacy efforts. By staying, individuals can continue amplifying positive messages and supporting important causes.
  3. Access to Events and Local Updates: Facebook excels as a hub for event coordination and news dissemination. Whether it’s discovering community gatherings, charity events, or public discussions, the platform enables users to stay engaged with their surroundings.
  4. Platform for Countering Negativity:ย Staying active on Facebook allows users to directly challenge hate speech and bigotry. Individuals can use their presence to make a positive impact through reporting mechanisms, creating supportive content, and fostering constructive dialogues.
  5. Professional Networking and Opportunities: Beyond personal connections, Facebook provides professional opportunities through networking, business pages, and advertising. Leaving the platform will limit exposure to these tools, which can be crucial for entrepreneurs, freelancers, or small business owners.

The Case for Leaving Facebook

  1. Moral and Ethical Stance: Users can take a stand by leaving Facebook. They do this against policies they perceive as harmful or contrary to their values. This protest can send a powerful message to the platform and its advertisers, influencing change.
  2. Reducing Exposure to Toxic Content: With the relaxation of hate speech policies, users face more harmful content. They become increasingly exposed to offensive material. Removing oneself from the platform eliminates the mental and emotional toll of encountering such material.
  3. Privacy and Data Concerns:ย Facebook has faced ongoing scrutiny over its handling of user data. Leaving the platform reduces one’s vulnerability to data misuse, targeted advertising, and potential privacy breaches.
  4. Encouraging Other Platforms: Exiting Facebook can prompt individuals to explore different social media platforms that better align with their values. Platforms like Mastodon, MeWe, or local community forums offer a more supportive environment.
  5. Reclaiming Time and Focus: Many users realize an unexpected advantage when they leave Facebook. They find they have more time for hobbies, personal growth, and face-to-face interactions. The departure can foster a sense of liberation from the constant pull of notifications and algorithm-driven content.

Finding a Middle Ground

For those hesitant to make a definitive choice, there are ways to balance the benefits of staying and leaving. Users can regain a sense of control over their Facebook experience by reducing engagement. They can also limit time spent on the platform. Unfollowing toxic pages or users and curating a positive feed helps as well. Additionally, prioritizing different platforms for personal or professional connections while maintaining a minimal Facebook presence can further enhance this control.

Conclusion

The decision to stay on or leave Facebook is very personal. It depends on one’s values, priorities, and tolerance for the platform’s evolving policies. Staying permits individuals to keep connections. They can use their presence for positive change. Leaving can signify a powerful ethical stance. It can lead to personal growth. Regardless of one’s choice, it is essential to evaluate Facebook’s role in one’s life. People should make a decision that aligns with their values and well-being.

The Island of No Return

3โ€“4 minutes

Three men sat at the edge of a dock. Each was worn down by the ceaseless hum of modern life. Their gazes were fixed on a small, uninhabited island that shimmered in the midday sun. A mile off the coast, the island was lush with palm trees, surrounded by crystal-clear water, and untouched by civilization. It was perfect, a blank canvas for a life free from the chaos they had come to despise.

The trio’s leader, Warren, a former corporate executive, was the mastermind behind the escape. To buy the island, he’d sold everythingโ€”his penthouse, yacht, and stock portfolio.

“Gentlemen,”

he said, gesturing at the island,

“we’re about to start over. No emails, no alarms, no societal nonsense. Just us and the land.”

Tom, a rugged carpenter with calloused hands, nodded.

“I’ll build us the finest cabins you’ve ever seen. Give me trees and tools, and we’ll have a paradise.”

The third man, Elliott, a quiet botanist, adjusted his glasses and smiled faintly.

“And I’ll make sure we know which plants are safe to eat. Nature will supply for us if we respect it.”

They packed their small boat with essentials: tools, seeds, books, and fishing gear. They agreed to leave their phones behind, cutting ties with the rest of the world. “Once we’re there,” Warren declared, “there’s no turning back.”

Arrival

The island greeted them with pristine beaches and a dense jungle that hummed with life. They worked tirelessly in the first weeks. Tom constructed three sturdy cabins near the shoreline. Warren rigged up a rudimentary system for collecting rainwater. Elliott explored the interior, cataloging edible plants and marking trails.

At night, they sat by a fire, listening to the waves and reveling in the simplicity of their new existence.

“This is freedom,”

Warren said one evening.

“We’ve escaped the madness.”

But as the weeks turned to months, cracks began to form in their idyllic retreat.

Isolation

Elliott was the first to show signs of unease.

“The flora here is fascinating,”

he said one night, staring at the fire,

“but I miss my research. Sharing discoveries with othersโ€ฆ it gave my work purpose.”

Tom, who had poured his energy into the building, grew restless after the cabins were completed.ย

“There’s only so much wood to chop, so many things to fix. I feelโ€ฆ stagnant.”

Warren dismissed their concerns.

“We didn’t come here for purpose or projects. We came to live. You’ve forgotten why we left.”

But Warren, too, struggled. He’d envisioned a utopia, a life stripped of complications, but the endless quiet gnawed at him. Without the structure of his old life, he felt adrift.

The Turning Point

One stormy night, a ship appeared on the horizon. Its lights pierced the darkness, a beacon of their forsaken world.

“Do we signal it?”

Tom asked, his voice wavering.

Warren’s face hardened.

“No. We agreed: no contact.”

Elliott hesitated.

“What if they’re in trouble? Or what ifโ€ฆ what if we are?”

The men argued for hours as the storm raged. Ultimately, they let the ship pass without making contact. But the moment lingered, a reminder of the life they’d left behindโ€”and the choice they’d made to stay.

Conclusion

In time, the men adapted. They found a rhythm in the island’s isolation, but each carried a quiet longing for the world they’d abandoned. They didn’t regret their choice, but they understood it now for what it was: a trade, not an escape.

Years later, the island was still theirs, but they were no longer the same men who had arrived. They had built a new life, not without struggles or sacrifices, but one that was undeniably theirs.

They never saw another ship. They often looked out at the horizon. They wondered what have been if they’d signaled that one stormy night.

THE LAST RIDE FOR THE MAN FROM PLAINS GEORGIA

2โ€“3 minutes

In the early hours of January 4, 2025, a somber hush fell over the rolling plains of Georgia. The sun shone gently over the landscape. A motorcade departed from Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus. It bore the flag-draped casket of the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. The journey marked the start of a six-day tribute. It honored a man who dedicated his life to service, peace, and humanity.

The procession moved through Carter’s hometown of Plains, passing by his boyhood home in Archery. Here, the old farm bell tolled 39 times. Each chime resonated with the years he had served as the nation’s leader. It symbolized each year of his presidency. Family members, including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, accompanied the casket, their faces reflecting both sorrow and pride. Former Secret Service agents had once protected him. They now served as pallbearers. They honored their final duty to the man they had revered.

Along the route, admirers gathered. Some held flowers. Others wore commemorative pins. They were all united in their wish to pay homage to a beloved figure. The motorcade continued to Atlanta. There, Carter’s body would lie in repose at the Carter Presidential Center. This arrangement provided the public with the opportunity to offer their respects.

On January 7, the casket will be transported to Washington, D.C., where President Carter will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol. A state funeral is scheduled for January 9 at the Washington National Cathedral. Dignitaries will honor his legacy there, including President Joe Biden. The funeral will be a solemn event. There will be a military honor guard. A close family member will deliver a eulogy.

Carter’s journey will reach its conclusion after the national ceremonies. He will return to Plains, Georgia, for a private funeral service at Maranatha Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Rosalynn. This is the place where his remarkable journey began. It would now conclude there.

As the week unfolds, the nation will ponder on the life of a president who remained a humble servant. Jimmy Carter’s final ride is not just a passage from life to death. It is a testament to a legacy that will endure in the hearts of the people he has touched. This marks the end of a remarkable journey.

A Dog Will Always Keep You Honest – Truly!

Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures IMDbPro

Presented by benandsteve.com By: Benjamin Groff IIยฉ

2โ€“4 minutes

They will always find ways to expose the truth whenever it is necessary. A dog will keep you honest because they are always watching you. They know everything you do. They hear everything you say.

Take, for example, Otis, a Jack Russell Terrier with soulful eyes and a tail that wagged like a metronome. Otis belonged to Ben and Steve, who pride themselves on being organized and composed. But Otis saw through it all. He knew when Steve “accidentally” skipped the morning bike ride. Steve chose instead to lounge in his recliner with a cup of coffee. Steve tried to cover up his lapse in discipline. He mentioned a “hectic morning” to explain his work demands. Otis carried the bike shorts he had abandoned by the door into the middle of the living room. His silent reproach was explicit.

Dogs, after all, have a way of sniffing out the truthโ€”not just with their noses but with their instincts. Otis had a keen sense of timing. He knew when Ben told little white lies to his mother over the phone. Ben claimed his last doctor’s appointment suggested he was healthy. Meanwhile, he was polishing off a bag of chips. Otis would sit by his feet. He stared intently, daring Ben to admit to the salty crunch he tried to hide. Finally, Ben conceded and gave Otis a chip. He did it to keep Otis quiet during the phone conversation.

But Otis’s honesty wasn’t just about catching lies. He had an uncanny ability to bring clarity to the chaos. One summer, Ben and Steve’s neighbor, Mary, argued about a missing garden gnome. Steve assured Mary they hadn’t seen it. Yet, when they let Otis out that evening, he returned with the gnome in his jaws, proudly wagging his tail. Maybe Ben and Steve had borrowed it. Or Otis had “borrowed” it himself. The truth stood on four legs, panting happily.

Otis also kept Steve honest about his emotions. When Steve plastered on a smile for his colleagues after a lousy day, Otis knew better. He’d gently nudge Steve’s arm. Sometimes, he laid his head on Steve’s lap. This grounded Steve with the companionship that didn’t tolerate pretending. Dogs don’t care for masks; they prefer the raw, unfiltered you.

And that’s the magic of a dog’s honesty. They don’t demand perfectionโ€”they demand authenticity. They hold you accountable not with judgment but with love. Otis didn’t care if Steve skipped a bike ride. He didn’t care if Ben ate chips or if there had been a misplaced garden gnome. What mattered was that they learned to face the truth. It was messy, but they became a better version of themselves because of it. Otis is a good boy, and he proved it, by helping others be good!

A dog will always keep you honest because they never stop believing in the good in you. They don’t just witness your lifeโ€”they join in it, gently guiding you toward honesty in ways only a dog can.

If you have room in your heart and home for a pet, consider visiting your local animal shelter. These shelters hold loving animals waiting for a second chance to find their forever family. Adopting a pet changes their life and brings warmth, joy, and companionship to your own. A new furry friend can be the missing piece that turns your house into a proper home.

America at a Crossroads

1โ€“2 minutes

America is at a turning point, a moment so profound that many may not see the year’s end without facing life-altering consequences. These changes aren’t their fault. They stem from forces more significant than any single person or groupโ€”forces set in motion long ago.

The nation stands on the brink of challenges unseen in living memory. No vote, no leader, no hero can steer us away from what’s coming. The roots of our crisis lie in greed and unchecked ambition, planted by individuals we know and trustโ€”people we’ll sit across from at holiday dinners, unaware they helped build the road to this moment.

As the months unfold, our choices are narrowing. The lives we’ve known, filled with freedom of association, laughter, and uninhibited conversation, are under siege. Soon, those liberties may be reshaped or stripped away entirely, dictated by legislation crafted by those who believe they know better.

Imagine a world where our words must align with an official narrative, where dissent is no longer tolerated. Our daily connectionsโ€”jokes, debates, and chatterโ€”become whispers of a bygone era. Communication will be monitored, censored, or stifled entirely. Freedom of thought, once a cornerstone of this great land, will be reduced to a memory.

And yet, it is worth remembering:

We let this happen.

Or rather, “they” did.

Those who wielded their votes, believing in promises that veiled agendas, have delivered us to this precipice.

It is “they” who must now reckon with what “they’ve” done to the “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.”

But reckoning is not enough. As the storm looms, let us not resign ourselves to despair. Let us remember who we are and what we stand for. Even as the path ahead grows darker, there remains a flicker of the courage, resilience, and unity that built this nation. We must nurture that spark, which may guide us back to the light.

Moving Forward: Finding Stability in a Changing World

Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures IMDbPro

Presented by benandsteve.com By: Benjamin Groff IIยฉ

As the sun rises on another day, many Americans face questions about navigating a future that feels uncertain and, at times, challenging. With new policies, social shifts, and changes in government practices, it’s natural to wonder: How can we make peace with what tomorrow might bring?

Embracing Life as It Is

The journey forward begins by accepting life as it is. This acceptance isn’t about resigning ourselves to every challenge but acknowledging what is beyond our control. By shifting our focus inward, we can cultivate a balanced and manageable life, regardless of external circumstances.

This approach involves creating a routineโ€”a set of daily habits and practices that we control and are structured to ensure Stability. When we establish a routine that aligns with our values and goals, we take ownership of our lives, making our days feel fulfilling and predictable, even when the world around us may feel anything but. This sense of control and predictability can empower us to face the uncertainties of the future with confidence.

Designing a Routine that Works for you. Focusing on what matters most to us individually will be essential to develop this routine. By centering our lives around personal choices and needs, we shape a daily rhythm whose influences aren’t getting pushed by the ever-shifting demands of society or government policies. Here are vital aspects to consider:

  1. Personal Autonomy: Build a day-to-day lifestyle that allows for independence. This involves selecting tasks, schedules, and activities that feel true to who you are and are within your control.
  2. Stability Through Simplicity: Keep routines simple and consistent. External events can derail complex plans; simplicity provides a foundation for adaptability and peace of mind.
  3. Harmony with Society: While focusing on our lives, aligning our activities with society’s laws and norms is essential. By following guidelines and remaining respectful of others, we minimize the risk of disruption and interference.

Living Without Unnecessary Interference

By developing a sustainable, uncontroversial, and law-abiding routine, we create space for ourselves to live relatively unaffected by the broader tides of political or social change. This sense of security and peace of mind allows us to focus on our personal growth and well-being, even in the face of external uncertainties.

Moving Forward Together

Ultimately, as individuals adopt this mindset, communities also benefit. When people find Stability within themselves, they become pillars of support to others, fostering collective resilience. In times of uncertainty, this shared calm, mutual respect, and individual responsibility can carry Americans forward together, one day at a time. This sense of community and shared responsibility can provide a strong support system in times of uncertainty.

In this approach, tomorrow’s challenges become more manageable, and with a foundation of self-guided routine, we discover that moving forward is not only possible but peaceful.

What You Can Do Now As An American.

Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures IMDbPro

Presented by benandsteve.com By: Benjamin Groff IIยฉ

Nearly half of Americans who cast ballots in the November 5, 2024, Presidential Election voted for Kamala Harris; the other half for Donald Trump.

At this stage, it’s less about who supported whom and more about what lies ahead. If Trump follows through on his campaign promises, there could be significant changes in government agencies, which might affect the benefits that many Americans depend on. He has openly vowed to bring retribution against those he views as adversariesโ€”potentially including the half of the nation that didn’t vote for him. However, it’s also important to note that not all of his promises may come to fruition, and the political system has checks and balances to prevent extreme actions.

Federal law enforcement agencies involved in national security and other branches focused on homeland security could be dissolved. Trump has publicly stated his intent to dismantle these institutions.

Social programs for adults, older people, and those with disabilitiesโ€”such as food assistance, school aid, healthcare, and Social Securityโ€”are likely to face drastic cuts, potentially leaving them virtually ineffective for those in need. He has said as much.

LGBTQI+ rights and protections are also under threat, as outlined in Project 2025, a policy initiative he supports. If you think this won’t materialize, consider the promises already laid out. The next four years will show us the reality.

If Trump appoints Robert Kennedy Jr. to oversee public health, as he has suggested, food and drug safety regulations could be gutted. Protections that ensure safe food, medications, and clean drinking water could be stripped away, leading to significant health risks.

Trump is likely to have the backing of a Republican-controlled House and Senate. New laws and repeals may come as swiftly and forcefully as debris in a tornado. The U.S. could change drastically, and not only non-supporters would feel the impactโ€”Trump supporters, too, could face serious, unforeseen consequences.

Expect an economic downturn as average Americans encounter hardships unprecedented in recent history. As with the COVID-19 crisis, another wave of upheaval may follow. Trump’s track record shows a tendency for crises, particularly in ventures he leads. The economic future under his leadership looks bleak.

What You Can Do

HOARDย โ€“ Stock up on canned goods and cash reserves outside traditional banking institutions. Prepare for potential utility outages and find ways to stay connected without reliance on cell phones or computers. Secure a supply of both drinking and non-drinking water to meet various needs.

PROTECTย โ€“ Prioritize security measures for yourself, your home, and your property, particularly those independent of electricity. Stock up on self-defense tools like bear spray or mace. Ensure that your home’s locks are strong both inside and out. In the event of an intruder, remember: in a fight for survival, any measure is justifiable. There are no rules when fighting for your life. Anything is fair!

These are just a few preparations to consider. With the current political landscape in both Houses and the Supreme Court tilted in Trump’s favor, our democratic processes could be at risk. This election may mark our last chance to elect our Presidentโ€”and our future as a democracy. It’s critical to stay informed, engage in the political process, and support organizations that defend democratic values. Together, we can make a difference.

Otis The Dog That Trouble Finds

One sunny morning, Otis, a slick Jack Russell Terrier with a gleam in his eyes

and mischief in his heart, woke up. His fur was a brilliant shade of gold, shimmering in the sunlight, and his tail wagged with such enthusiasm that it could power a windmill. The day started innocently enough; we had breakfast at our favorite restaurant and came home. With his wagging tail and big, innocent eyes, Otis welcomed us home and helped us as we tidied up around the house. But Otis is no ordinary dogโ€”trouble seems to find him as a squirrel finds an acorn. He gets these spurts of energy known well as zoomies.

It’s like he’s a magnet for mishaps, a walking comedy show. Wherever he goes, calamity follows. He’s so adorable that it’s impossible not to chuckle when his wrecking ball hits.

It wasn’t long before Otis’s nose led him to the kitchen. The scent of freshly baked bread cooling on the counter was just too tempting. He stood on his hind legs, stretching his neck as far as it would go. Just then, a slight breeze blew through an open window, knocking a paper off the fridge and startling Otis. He yelped and bumped into the counter in a flurry of fur and paws. The bread tumbled down, landing squarely on the floor.

When we walked in, Otis stood over the fallen loaf, his big, brown eyes looking up at us with a mix of innocence and apology. His expression seemed to say, “I didn’t mean to!” It’s hard not to forgive him when he looks at you like that.

We sighed but couldn’t help the tiny smile tugging at your lips. Before picking up the bread, Otis had darted out of the room, ears flapping, tail wagging like a flag, and disappeared into the yard.

As the day went on, Otis’s streak of bad luck continued. While exploring under the porch, he got tangled in a ball of twine that a handyman had left behind. Emerging from the shadows, he looked wide-eyed and confused, like a dog-sized spider web. The neighbors couldn’t help but chuckle when they saw him, tangled and guilty-looking. One even offered to help untangle him, but Otis, being Otis, managed to free himself in a comical fashion.

Capping off his day – Otis’s curiosity got the best of him once more when he found a potted plant by the front door. It only took a nudge from his nose for the pot to tip over, spilling soil all over the welcome mat. He sniffed the dirt, sneezed, and left tiny paw prints leading to his bed, where he flopped down, exhausted.

When found, he looked up with that sweet, guilty face as if saying, I swear, I don’t know how it happened!

Despite the chaos, we knelt and scratched behind his ears. Otis nuzzled into my hand, eyes closing in contentment. As much trouble as he got into, he was ours, and those mishaps only make our days a little more memorableโ€”and a lot more fun. His presence, filled with joy, even amid his mischievous adventures, is a constant reminder of the happiness pets bring into our lives.

The Phrase “Make America Great Again” and Its Social Implications

Presented by benandsteve.com By: Benjamin Groff IIยฉ

Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Enduresย IMDbPro.

“Make America Great Again,” popularized as a political slogan, has become highly polarizing. To supporters, it often symbolizes a call to return to a time of perceived economic strength, national pride, and social stability. However, for many others, it has come to signify a darker undertone: a desire to revert to an era when certain marginalized groupsโ€”such as African Americans, LGBTQ+ individuals, Jewish people, Hispanics, and other minoritiesโ€”lacked complete protection under the law.

The slogan evokes an ambiguous sense of “greatness,” sparking questions of when America was indeed “great” and for whom. Many point to the slogan as a reference to a mid-20th century America, a period before civil rights advancements began to reshape the nation’s legal and social landscape. This era, regardless of its association with post-war prosperity and expanding economic opportunity, was also marked by segregation, widespread discrimination, and limited civil rights protections for racial and ethnic minorities, women, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Civil rights legislation and landmark court decisions have progressively addressed these disparities in the past fifty years. The Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, Roe v. Wade, Obergefell v. Hodges, and the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act represent some of the significant strides made in affording marginalized groups equal rights and protection under the law. Critics argue that calling for a return to pre-1960s values implies a desire to dismantle some of these protections and regain a hierarchical social order that was deeply exclusionary.

The MAGA slogan is seen by many as a coded message suggesting that the progress made by minorities threatens traditional values or destabilizes society. Rhetoric often associated with the sloganโ€”such as fear of “radical left” agendas, immigration restrictions, and questioning of affirmative actionโ€”has exacerbated this perception. For example, according to surveys and sociopolitical analyses, minority groups and their advocates often interpret the slogan as a form of resistance against multiculturalism and diversity. This view became reinforced by incidents in which white nationalist groups appropriated the slogan to promote exclusionary ideologies.

Political messaging using the phrase has stirred debates over whether it subtly promotes a return to exclusive societal norms. Advocacy groups for racial, ethnic, and LGBTQ+ rights warn that MAGA rhetoric has indirectly contributed to policy decisions that undermine or reverse hard-won civil liberties, such as efforts to restrict voting access, challenge affirmative action, limit LGBTQ+ protections, and enact immigration controls targeting specific nationalities or religions.

Conclusion

The “Make America Great Again” slogan has thus come to represent more than a call for economic or national rejuvenation; it embodies a divisive struggle over America’s values and the inclusivity of its future. For critics, it suggests a rollback on the inclusivity and rights advancements achieved over the past five decades. It serves as a reminder that the interpretation of slogans in political discourse can carry implicit biases and, in doing so, perpetuate exclusionary beliefs that impact marginalized communities.

The term “Make America Great Again” has a different meaning, and it stands on the grounds that to make America Great Again, there has to be the revoking of rights that have been attained by groups over the last fifty years. Those groups include blacks, Native Americans, Hispanics, Asians, the LGBTQI+ Community, and others. Because of that angle, this space will discuss the topic in the November 1st, 2024 posting.

Understanding the range of meanings attributed to “Make America Great Again” offers insight into the complexities of contemporary American identity and the societal debate over what “greatness” truly entails in an evolving multicultural landscape.

Unpacking ‘Make America Great Again’: What MAGA Overlooks in Its Vision of the Past

The fall of 2024 found a vibrant small community town hall filled with locals from every walk of life. The walls became lined with a diverse array of familiar faces of the neighborhoodโ€”retired teachers, young activists, military veterans, and longtime friends who had lived through decades of change, some of it hard-won, others bittersweet. On the stage, with a sign readingย “Let’s Talk About Greatness,”ย stood a panel, each holding their idea of what that greatness looked like.

Jared, a man in his late sixties with a MAGA hat perched atop his head, leaned forward as he spoke, โ€“โ€“โ€“

“I want my kids and grandkids to grow up in a country that feels strong, proud, and unitedโ€”like it was back then. We all knew our neighbors. Families were close-knit. There was a sense of American unity.”

Dolores, a retired history teacher, nodded beside him. But as the crowd listened, some exchanged looks. โ€“โ€“โ€“

“So, Jared, I get what you’re saying,” a young local journalist interrupted Lena. But when we say ‘back then,’ do we mean the same thing?”

Jared paused, looking thoughtful, as Dolores took the microphone. โ€“โ€“โ€“

“We tend to remember the good and forget the rest,” she said gently. I remember growing up in the fifties and sixties. It was stable and ideal for some of us, but not everyone. This ‘great’ past we want to go back to meant certain people couldn’t vote. Others had to hide who they loved. And womenโ€”our dreams were seen as distractions to a family.”

There was a hush as Dolores’s words hung in the air.

“I don’t think Jared meant that,”

โ€“โ€“โ€“ came a soft voice from the audience. It was Naomi, a single mother and community organizer.

“But when we say we want to ‘Make America Great Again,’ we have to askโ€”for whom?ย The history we’re returning to was not the same experience for everyone.”

The community members exchanged glances. Jared turned back to the crowd. โ€“โ€“โ€“

“I respect what you’re saying, Naomi,”

he replied, genuinely thoughtfully. โ€“โ€“โ€“

“When I say ‘greatness,’ I’m not talking about racism or inequality. I’m talking about hard work, pride, patriotismโ€”things that feel like they’re slipping away.”

Naomi nodded understanding, fostering a sense of mutual respect and value for each other’s perspectives, highlighting the importance of open and respectful dialogue in the community.

“But the wordย againย implies that we want to go backward,”

โ€“โ€“โ€“ Lena pointed out.

“And, for me, that’s concerning. I love this country and respect what’s gone into making it better. I mean, we have interracial marriage, legal protections for LGBTQ+ people, voting rights for everyone.”

โ€“โ€“โ€“ Lena paused, looking at Jared.

“To me, that’s American greatnessโ€”now.”

As the meeting unfolded, the debate deepened. Various members shared stories of progress and hardships. Kayla, a small business owner, spoke about her pride in balancing work and motherhood.

“When I hearย traditional values, I think of something different than my grandmother might have,”

โ€“โ€“โ€“ she said.

“My values include family, hard work, women’s rights, and equal opportunities.”

Another voice said,

“Look, I served in the military, and I believe in protecting this country,”

โ€“โ€“โ€“ said Tom, a retired Marine and a man with a thick gray beard.

“I fought for an America that moves forward and doesn’t leave anyone behind. ‘Greatness’ is complexโ€”strong enough to protect everyone’s rights.”

The meeting wrapped up with the group realizing that “greatness” was many things, each person’s version holding personal meaning. Dolores took the microphone one last time:

“Maybe we can remember thisโ€”our vision of a truly great America embraces both the good of the past and the advancements we’ve made. To build greatness, we don’t go backward. We keep moving and evolving, ensuring that each generation has the opportunity to contribute to a better America, instilling a sense of hope and optimism in the audience for the future.”

The room echoed with nods of agreement, and as the townspeople filed out, they carried forward a renewed understanding: that the road to greatness was not paved with nostalgia alone but with a willingness to grow beyond it.

What to Expect if Authoritarianism Takes Over in 2025

If you wake up one morning and it gets decided that the far right movement has successfully won up and down the ballot the offices that will allow them control of the Senate, House, and Presidency, what happens on January 21st when the President takes office? The other’s take will have taken office on January 3rd, 2025.

If a far-right, authoritarian shift happened, imagine daily life feeling tense and disorienting. Freedom of speech and privacy might tighten, and communities could fracture over polarized beliefs.

Social media would likely be more censored, making it hard to know what’s happening.

For those in creative fields, such as storytelling and journalism, the potential for self-censorship is a real concern. Themes might be subtly altered, as work reflecting dissent or critique could become risky.

Public spaces and services would not be immune to the influence of a far-right, authoritarian shift. Schools, healthcare, and public safety could all be shaped by this new ideology, affecting the way history is taught, access to healthcare, and what behavior is punished or protected.

Law enforcement could face a mix of skepticism and loyalty shifts as priorities change, especially in places that once held them in high esteem.

Ultimately, a far-right, authoritarian shift could lead to a personal life that feels guarded. People might find themselves either staying under the radar or trying to navigate systems to protect themselves and their values.

It’s crucial to consider the potential influence of far-right extremism when we vote. Hopefully, there are still enough clear-minded individuals in America who can help prevent such a shift.

My dad and grandfather are gone now, but neither would support a liar, cheat, rapist, insurrectionist, dictator, or someone who supports one, or generally speaking, a creep or ‘weirdo.’

There are other reasons you can look at as well. For instance, a candidate such has a sexual offense judgment against him, and he is under indictment for countless federal crimes; in the last year, one of the candidates was in the air, flying, on their way to being arrested, just as much as he was campaigning at one point.ย

One or more of those reasons would have been reason enough to consider looking into the person’s background. And three to four, would have been reason enough to reject a person all together. Someone who was strongly running for public office would have been rejected. Now, the GOP considers it a qualification required for all Republican candidates.

The candidates have endorsements from KKK members. They boast about, a presidential politician having endorsements from dictators. They wallow in such markings, and candidates publicly brag about laws they will violate first, if elected. And this makes them the most qualified candidate. Going as far as boasting about becoming a dictator. Going about telling people this is the last election they will have to worry about voting in.ย

Why? Does that mean the Constitution is going to get ripped apart, shredded, and there will no longer be a United States where the people choose its leaders? It appears it doesn’t matter to the people who are numb and following this character. They appear to have zoned out of reality.ย

My grandfather, father, uncles, aunts, and even a few dogs and horses I’ve had would not have allowed the goings on to persist. The greatest generation has died chiefly off; fewer of them now than ever are living, which sadly shows in our world. They were the ones who knew what happens when the world that falls to fascism. When reality hits and the world dies. It is beginning as America will turn grey; it will become a black-and-white construct of anything anyone remembers of its being, if these destructionists are permitted to have their way with the country. We only hope enough voters come to the polls and and vote, and save our America!

My dad had a favorite saying: the older I got, the wiser he’d get. And he was right; I wish he were here to help us out of this madness!

When 20,000 Americans Held a Pro-Nazi Rally in Madison Square Garden in 1939 – Now It’s Happening Again…

Information Produced and Presented By Organizations Other Than Groff Media 2024

Above, two-time Academy Award nominee Marshall Curry presentsย A Night at The Garden, a film that revisitsย a night in February 1939ย when โ€œ20,000 Americans rallied in New Yorkโ€™s Madison Square Garden to celebrate the rise of Nazism โ€” an event largely forgotten from U.S. history.โ€ย As we described it back in 2017, the film documents the following scene:

What youโ€™re looking at is the 1939 โ€œPro-American Rallyโ€ (aka Pro-Nazi Rally) sponsored by the German American Bund at Madison Square Garden on George Washingtonโ€™s 207th Birthday. Banners emblazoned with such slogans as โ€œStop Jewish Domination of Christian Americans,โ€ โ€œWake Up America. Smash Jewish Communism,โ€ and โ€œ1,000,000 Bund Members by 1940โ€ decorated the great hall.

New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardiaโ€”an Episcopalian with a Jewish motherโ€”considered canceling the event, but ultimately he, along with the American Jewish Committee and the American Civil Liberties Committee decreed that the Bund was exercising its right to free speech and free assembly.

A crowd of 20,000 filled the famous sports venue in mid-town Manhattan to capacity. 1,500 police officers were present to render the Garden โ€œa fortress impregnable to anti-Nazis.โ€ An estimated 100,000 counter-demonstrators were gathering outside.โ€ฆ

The most disturbing moment in the short film comes at the 3:50 mark, when another security forceโ€”the Bundโ€™s Ordnungsdienst or โ€œOrder Serviceโ€ pile on Isidore Greenbaum, a 26-year-old Jewish worker who rushed the podium where bundesfรผhrer Fritz Julius Kuhn was fanning the flames of hatred. Valentineโ€™s men eventually pulled them off, just barely managing to save the โ€œanti-Naziโ€ from the vicious beating he was undergoing.

Made entirely from archival footage filmed that night, A Night at The Garden โ€œtransports audiences to this chilling gathering and shines a light on the power of demagoguery and anti-Semitism in the United States.โ€ You can learn more about the film and the 1939 rally at Marshall Curryโ€™s web site.

Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, or other xenophobic rallies being held this weekend in Madison Square Garden is purely coincidental, of course.

Fascism!: The US Army Publishes a Pamphlet in 1945 Explaining How to Spot Fascism at Home and Abroad

Over a century ago, the United States grappled with a political movement that closely resembled today’s MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement, a populist uprising spearheaded by former President Donald Trump. Like MAGA, this earlier movement thrived on populist discontent, nativist sentiments, and rejection of the established order. If not kept in check, it could have reshaped American democracy in ways that might have undermined its democratic institutions, a peril we must remain vigilant against.

One of the most significant instances was during Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency, a man with intricate political loyalties. In 1912, Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party brought populist elements into the political mainstream, appealing to working-class voters who felt marginalized by the two major parties. While Roosevelt was not anti-democratic, his charismatic leadership style and his ability to rally crowds around a strongman image set a precedent for future political movements that would seek to undermine democratic norms.

Simultaneously, the rise of the “America First” movement and the Ku Klux Klan spanning the 1920s showed how easily populist rhetoric could veer into exclusionary nationalism and nativism. The Klan’s widespread influence reached local, state, and federal government levels, promoting an agenda that sought to disenfranchise non-white citizens, immigrants, and anyone considered “un-American.” This movement found an audience among rural and working-class Americans who felt left behind by the rapid industrialization and modernization of the country.

At the heart of these movements was a profound distrust of the government, elites, and institutionsโ€”just like the anti-establishment fervor that fueled the rise of MAGA. These movements aimed to “restore” a vision of America rooted in racial and social hierarchies, often using violent rhetoric and intimidation to achieve their goals. Had these populist forces gained more traction, they could have severely damaged the democratic foundation of the country, ushering in a more authoritarian regime.

It took concerted efforts from citizens and political leaders to resist these dangerous movements and restore democratic norms. In some ways, the lessons from over a century ago echo loudly today: unchecked populism, especially when it flirts with nativism and authoritarianism, can bring democracy to the brink of collapse. However, this history also reminds us of our power to shape the future of our democracy, offering hope and inspiration for positive change.

Today, as MAGA remains a force in American politics, it is crucial to remember that the battle to preserve democracy requires vigilance. While populism can express legitimate grievances of people who feel left behind, it must not be allowed to erode the institutions enabling democracy to function. History teaches us that democracy’s survival depends on our ability to balance widespread anger with reasoned leadership and respect for the rule of law. We all have a role to play in this ongoing struggle, and our vigilance is required to maintain a true Republic of the People!

A Letter From An American Adresses Fascism – First Alerting American troops To Avoid It In 1943! Today Americans Are Voting For It!

Beginning in 1943, the War Department published a series of pamphlets for U.S. Army personnel in the European theater of World War II. Titled Army Talks, the series was designed โ€œto help [the personnel] become better-informed men and women and therefore better soldiers.โ€

On March 24, 1945, the topic for the week was โ€œFASCISM!โ€

โ€œYou are away from home, separated from your families, no longer at a civilian job or at school and many of you are risking your very lives,โ€ the pamphlet explained, โ€œbecause of a thing called fascism.โ€ But, the publication asked, what is fascism? โ€œFascism is not the easiest thing to identify and analyze,โ€ it said, โ€œnor, once in power, is it easy to destroy. It is important for our future and that of the world that as many of us as possible understand the causes and practices of fascism, in order to combat it.โ€

Fascism, the U.S. government document explained, โ€“โ€“โ€“

โ€œis government by the few and for the few. The objective is seizure and control of the economic, political, social, and cultural life of the state.โ€ โ€œThe people run democratic governments, but fascist governments run the people.โ€ย

โ€œThe basic principles of democracy stand in the way of their desires; henceโ€”democracy must go! Anyone who is not a member of their inner gang has to do what heโ€™s told. They permit no civil liberties, no equality before the law.โ€ โ€œFascism treats women as mere breeders. โ€˜Children, kitchen, and the church,โ€™ was the Nazi slogan for women,โ€ โ€“โ€“โ€“ the pamphlet said.ย

Fascists understood that โ€œthe fundamental principle of democracyโ€”faith in the common sense of the common peopleโ€”was the direct opposite of the fascist principle of rule by the elite few,โ€ it explained, โ€œ[s]o they fought democracyโ€ฆ. They played political, religious, social, and economic groups against each other and seized power while these groups struggled.โ€ย ย

Americans should not be fooled into thinking that fascism could not come to America, the pamphlet warned; after all, โ€œ[w]e once laughed Hitler off as a harmless little clown with a funny mustache.โ€ And indeed, the U.S. had experienced โ€œsorry instances of mob sadism, lynchings, vigilantism, terror, and suppression of civil liberties. We have had our hooded gangs, Black Legions, Silver Shirts, and racial and religious bigots. All of them, in the name of Americanism, have used undemocratic methods and doctrines whichโ€ฆcan be properly identified as โ€˜fascist.โ€™โ€

The War Department thought it was important for Americans to understand the tactics fascists would use to take power in the United States. They would try to gain power โ€œunder the guise of โ€˜super-patriotismโ€™ and โ€˜super-Americanism.โ€™โ€ And they would use three techniques:ย

It is โ€œvitally importantโ€ to learn to spot native fascists, the government said, โ€œeven though they adopt names and slogans with popular appeal, drape themselves with the American flag, and attempt to carry out their program in the name of the democracy they are trying to destroy.โ€

The only way to stop the rise of fascism in the United States, the document said, โ€œis by making our democracy work and by actively cooperating to preserve world peace and security.โ€ In the midst of the insecurity of the modern world, the hatred at the root of fascism โ€œfulfills a triple mission.โ€ By dividing people, it weakens democracy. โ€œBy getting men to hate rather than to think,โ€ it prevents them โ€œfrom seeking the real cause and a democratic solution to the problem.โ€ By falsely promising prosperity, it lures people to embrace its security.

Why Being Different is Special: Spot’s Lesson

A Story By: Benjamin Groffยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures

Once upon a time on Cloverfield Farm, there was a little dog named Spot. Despite his name, he didnโ€™t have a single spot on his smooth, white coat. All the other animals had their own unique markingsโ€”some had spots, some had stripes, and even Patch the cat had a patch over one eye. Spot often felt left out, especially when the other animals teased him.

โ€œHey, Spot! Where are your spots?โ€

the goats would bleat, snickering amongst themselves.

โ€œSpot doesnโ€™t even look like a Spot,โ€

the chickens clucked, pecking around the yard as Spotโ€™s ears drooped in embarrassment.

Tired of feeling like he didnโ€™t belong, Spot decided heโ€™d make his own spots. One day, he found some mud by the pond and rolled around in it, making little brown splotches all over himself. He trotted proudly into the barn, thinking he looked just like everyone else.

But the cows mooed with laughter.

โ€œThose spots donโ€™t look real, Spot,โ€

they teased.

โ€œYouโ€™re still plain!โ€

Spot tried again the next day, sneaking into the farmerโ€™s house and dipping his paws in paint from an art set left out on the porch. This time, he dotted his fur with black paint, carefully pressing little paw prints all over his coat. Spot thought he looked quite spotty now, but as he strutted around the barnyard, the animals just laughed louder.

One day, feeling disheartened, Spot wandered to the edge of the pasture and lay down beneath a big shady tree. Just then, a large bullโ€”well, he looked like a bullโ€”ambled over and lay beside him.

โ€œWhatโ€™s the matter, Spot?โ€

asked the bull.

โ€œOh, everyone teases me because I donโ€™t have any spots,โ€

Spot sighed.

โ€œIโ€™ve tried everything to fit in, but they always laugh.โ€

The bull nodded thoughtfully.

โ€œYou know, Spot, they laugh because they donโ€™t understand. And by the way, Iโ€™m not a bullโ€”Iโ€™m a steer.โ€

Spotโ€™s eyes widened.

โ€œA steer?โ€

The steer chuckled.

โ€œYes. I may look like a bull, but Iโ€™m not. And thatโ€™s okay. I learned a long time ago that who you are inside doesnโ€™t need to match what everyone thinks they see on the outside. And it doesnโ€™t have to match what they want, either.โ€

Spot tilted his head, listening.

โ€œYou see, Spot,โ€

continued the steer,

โ€œeveryone has something that makes them different. And sometimes, animals make fun of others because they donโ€™t want their own differences noticed. Itโ€™s easier for them to point at you than to face their own insecurities. But those differences are what make each of us unique.โ€

Spot thought about this for a moment.

โ€œSoโ€ฆ you think itโ€™s okay that I donโ€™t have spots?โ€

โ€œMore than okay,โ€

said the steer with a warm smile.

โ€œYou donโ€™t need spots to be special. Being you is what matters. When youโ€™re proud of who you are, those who tease you may just stop because theyโ€™ll see that you donโ€™t need their approval.โ€

Spot felt something warm and happy inside. For the first time, he realized that maybe being himself was enough.

After that, Spot didnโ€™t roll in mud or try to paint on spots. Instead, he ran and played with the animals, joining in with confidence. He still got a few teasing remarks, but now he just wagged his tail and smiled.

And little by little, the other animals started to see Spot differently. The cows noticed how fast he could run, the goats admired his cleverness, and even Patch the cat stopped by to share stories with him under the big shady tree. Spot was no longer โ€œthe dog without spotsโ€โ€”he was simply Spot, the friend who was comfortable being himself.

And from then on, Cloverfield Farm was a happier place for everyone.

Concerning Remarks by Former President Trump Regarding Military Burial and Generals

By: Benjamin Groff IIยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures IMDbPro

A recent news segment broadcasted by MSNBC-TV News says that former President Donald Trump reportedly made a controversial remark regarding the cost of burying a Hispanic woman he described as a “f–King Mexican” who had been killed and mutilated at a Texas Army base by a fellow soldier. The burial expenses reportedly amounted to approximately $80,000. Trump allegedly expressed frustration, saying it cost “too fucking much money” to provide the soldier with a proper burial.

This statement, if accurate, raises significant concerns about the former president’s attitude toward the treatment of military personnel, particularly those of Mexican heritage, as well as the costs associated with honoring fallen soldiers. The issue transcends one demographic and speaks to broader implications about how different groupsโ€”Mexicans, military members, and their familiesโ€”are treated and respected within the national discourse.

John Kelly says Trump is a Fascist!”

In addition to this disturbing comment, the report also highlighted another alarming remark by Trump, where he expressed a desire for military generals akin to those in Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler. Given its historical connotations, this remark should be receiving widespread attention in both mainstream and military-focused media, especially during a presidential election cycle.

However, despite their gravity, these statements have not dominated headlines in the way one might expect. The lack of focus on such inflammatory remarks is concerning, particularly given their implications for how a future Trump administration might handle military leadership and diverse communities.

These statements deserve heightened scrutiny from Spanish-speaking news outlets, military programs, and even women’s rights advocates, as they touch on crucial issues of race, leadership, and the treatment of soldiers. The implications of a leader aspiring to emulate Hitler’s generals, combined with dismissive comments about the costs of burying a soldier, suggest dangerous intentions for the future should Trump get re-elected.

The absence of widespread discussion on these matters is troubling, as the importance of holding political leaders accountable for their statements must be balanced, especially when they potentially foreshadow harmful policies.

Former President Donald Trump has once again put mass deportations at the forefront of his political agenda, threatening to implement a sweeping policy of deporting millions of undocumented immigrants if he gets re-elected. This proposal raises numerous concerns about the economic, social, and moral ramifications for the United States, with devastating consequences not only for immigrant communities but also for the country as a whole.

Mass deportations would have a profound negative impact on the U.S. economy. Undocumented immigrants contribute significantly to various sectors, including agriculture, construction, hospitality, and healthcare. Removing millions of workers from these industries would lead to severe labor shortages, driving up production costs and potentially creating inflationary pressures that affect all Americans. Businesses would need help filling vacancies, especially in labor-intensive jobs that many Americans are unwilling or unable to take on. The ripple effect would result in reduced productivity, increased costs for products and services, and a contraction in critical industries, including food production and construction.

Additionally, undocumented immigrants contribute billions of dollars to local and federal taxes each year, including sales and property taxes. Their removal would shrink this tax base, creating budgetary shortfalls for essential services like education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The cost of enforcing mass deportationsโ€”estimated to be in the hundreds of billionsโ€”would burden the federal government and taxpayers.

The human cost of mass deportations cannot be understated. Deportations would tear apart families, many of which include U.S. citizens. An estimated six million U.S.-born children live with at least one undocumented parent, and these children would face traumatic separations that could lead to long-term psychological harm. Communities, particularly those with large immigrant populations, would experience destabilization as families and social networks get disrupted, potentially altering the fabric of our society.

The fear and uncertainty generated by the threat of mass deportations would create a climate of mistrust between migrant communities and law enforcement, causing it to be more challenging for authorities to solve crimes or maintain order in immigrant-dense areas. Many undocumented individuals contribute to the community fabric by volunteering, attending schools, and participating in religious and civic organizations, and their forced removal would erode these social bonds.

Mass deportations also raise profound moral questions about America’s identity as a nation built on immigration. For centuries, the U.S. has stood as a beacon of hope and opportunity for people fleeing persecution, poverty, and violence. Deporting millions of people en masse, many of whom have resided in the U.S. for decades, sends a harsh message that contradicts these ideals. Such a policy risks deepening racial and ethnic divisions, stoking xenophobia, and inciting further polarization in an already divided political landscape, threatening the unity of our nation.

Politically, Trump’s plan for mass deportations is likely to galvanize opposition not just from immigrant rights groups but also from many sectors of society, including businesses, religious organizations, and community leaders who recognize the humanitarian and economic risks of such an approach. The request is likely to face legal challenges as well, potentially sparking a constitutional debate over due process, civil liberties, and the limits of executive power, offering a glimmer of hope for the preservation of our democratic principles.

Mass deportations could also have negative consequences for national security. If immigrants are too afraid to report crimes or cooperate with law enforcement, it could undermine efforts to fight human trafficking, drug smuggling, or other criminal activities. Additionally, the U.S.’s standing in the global community could get tarnished as other nations criticize the harshness of the policy, straining diplomatic relationships with key allies, particularly in Latin America.

Donald Trump’s threat to implement mass deportations would have dire consequences for Americans. It would inflict severe economic damage, cause profound social harm, and challenge the nation’s moral fabric. Rather than solving immigration issues, such a policy would exacerbate existing problems while undermining the values of inclusivity and opportunity that the U.S. has long championed. The broader national and international fallout from this approach would have far-reaching effects on the country’s domestic stability and global reputation.

The Quiet Difference

A Story By: Benjamin Groff IIยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Enduresย IMDbPro

Levi grew up feeling different from his peers, struggling with his attraction towards boys amidst societal pressures. A formative encounter with Aaron led to a heartfelt kiss that marked a turning point for Levi. As they matured, their bond evolved into a deep friendship, helping Levi embrace his uniqueness throughout adulthood.

From a young age, Levi had always felt like there was something inside him that set him apart from the other boys. In grade school, while his friends chased girls, teased them, and laughed about crushes, Levi felt a quiet unease. He played along, trying to fit in, pretending to share the same interests. But deep down, something felt different, something he couldn’t quite put into words.

As Levi grew older and entered his teenage years, that difference became more defined. His friends would talk excitedly about the girls they likedโ€”their eyes lighting up as they spoke of first dates, dances, and love letters. But Levi never shared in that excitement. He tried to force himself to like girls the way they did, to feel the same way, but no matter how hard he prayed, his feelings never changed. Levi would lie in bed at night, praying, asking God to make him normal. To take away the strange, confusing feelings he didn’t understand. His internal struggle was a constant companion, a silent battle that no one else could see.

But it wasn’t just his lack of attraction to girls that confused him. As Levi matured, he turned to dressing in modern menswearโ€”sharp, tailored clothing, stylish undergarments, and the kinds of outfits no one in his small farming town ever discussed. His friends were indifferent to clothes, such as hand-me-downs or work overalls, but Levi found comfort in dressing differently. The way certain fabrics felt, the sleek designs, appealed to him in a way he couldn’t explain. He was terrified someone would find out about these thoughts, this quiet fascination, and mock him. But more than that, he didn’t know why it would matter so much to others. Why was his difference such a secret? Why did it feel dangerous to admit? The societal pressures to conform to a certain image were always there, lurking in the background, ready to pounce on any sign of deviation.

Deep inside, Levi knew he longed for something more than stylish clothes or acceptance. He yearned for a relationship with another boyโ€”something that mirrored the love and companionship he saw between boys and girls. It wasn’t a desire he could fully explain, nor was it something anyone had ever taught him. It was natural to him, rising from some deep place in his heart. But even that natural feeling terrified him because he knew it wasn’t something people around him would accept.

One summer afternoon, when Levi was sixteen, a boy from a neighboring town came to visit the farm. His name was Aaron, and he was there with his father to discuss some work with Levi’s father. Aaron was taller than Levi, with a quiet confidence about him, and there was something about him that made Levi feel both nervous and excited. The two boys quickly became friendly, and after lunch, they decided to take a walk down to the lake that sat on the edge of Levi’s family’s land.

As they walked, the conversation flowed easily, and soon, they reached the clear, calm waters of the lake. The sun was hot, and Aaron suggested they go for a swim. Levi hesitated initially, feeling unsure, but the warmth of the day and Aaron’s easygoing nature won him over. Before long, they had stripped to nothing and jumped into the water, laughing and splashing like carefree children.

But as they swam and played, something unspoken hung between them. Levi could feel the subtle closeness of their glances at each other. They wrestled and splashed in the water, and then, almost without realizing it, they were close. The playful energy gave way to something more profound. Aaron’s hand lingered on Levi’s arm, and Levi felt his heartbeat quicken. In a moment that felt as natural as breathing, their lips met.

The kiss was soft and hesitant, but it felt right. For the first time in his life, Levi was clear-minded. Thisโ€”this feelingโ€”was what he had been searching for. It wasn’t wrong. It wasn’t strange. It was safe, it was natural, and it made perfect sense. The emotions welled up inside him, and before he could stop himself, tears began to fall down his cheeks. When he looked over, he saw Aaron was crying, too.

They both knew, in that quiet moment by the lake, that they had found something rare and precious in each other. But they also knew it would be fleeting. Their fathers’ farms were miles apart, and they would only see each other on rare occasions when their fathers met for work. It was a bittersweet realization, but it didn’t matter for the moment. They had found one another, and for the first time, Levi knew he wasn’t alone. As they dried off and dressed, the weight of the world seemed a little lighter on Levi’s shoulders. He felt a sense of peace and acceptance that he had never experienced before. The kiss had changed everything, and yet, it had changed nothing. They were still the same people, but now, they had a shared secret, a bond that transcended words.

As the years passed, Levi and Aaron grew older. They drifted apart romantically as life pulled them in different directions, but their bond remained strong. They stayed great friends, sharing the ups and downs of life and guiding one another through the challenges of adulthood. They never spoke about that summer kiss again, but it remained an unspoken memory that tied them together.

Levi never stopped feeling different, but he learned to embrace his uniqueness as he grew into adulthood. He found that love and connection could take many forms, and though his path wasn’t the same as others, it was his own. And he walked it proudly.

The End.

MAGA Is Not The First To Attempt And Bring Down America. A Populist Movement Nearly Destroyed American Democracy Over 110 Years Ago

Presented by benandsteve.com By: Benjamin Groff IIยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures IMDbPro

Over a century ago, the United States grappled with a political movement that bears striking similarities to today’s MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement, a populist uprising spearheaded by former President Donald Trump. Like MAGA, this earlier movement thrived on populist discontent, nativist sentiments, and a rejection of the established order. If not kept in check, it could have reshaped American democracy in ways that might have undermined its democratic institutions, a peril we must remain vigilant against.

One of the most significant instances of this was during Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency, a man with intricate political loyalties.

It took concerted efforts from both citizens and political leaders to resist these dangerous movements and restore democratic norms.

While populism can express legitimate grievances of people who feel left behind, it must not be allowed to erode the very institutions that allow democracy to function. History teaches us that democracy’s survival depends on our collective ability to balance popular anger with reasoned leadership and respect for the rule of law. We all have a role to play in this ongoing struggle, and it is our vigilance that will keep democracy alive.

The Impact of Leadership on American Democracy

Presented by benandsteve.com By: Benjamin Groff IIยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures IMDbPro

As we approach the upcoming elections, it’s crucial to remember that Americans are empowered to shape the nation’s trajectory every four years through their votes. When exercised responsibly and carefully reflecting on our past and present, this powerful right allows us to make decisions that align with our shared values and hopes for the future. Informed voting is not just a privilegeโ€”it’s a responsibility that enables us to build a future reflective of our ideals.

It’s sometimes helpful to step back and gain perspective to understand the present. Our current situation may seem overwhelming, but history often shows us that our challenges are more complex than we remember. Reflecting on past leadership and decisions not only reassures us but also guides us toward a more thoughtful approach to what lies ahead, providing a sense of reassurance and guidance.

Under the Trump administration, America experienced a turbulent period domestically and internationally. Families traveling abroad faced significant challenges, particularly when trying to return to the U.S. Students awaiting critical funding for their education found themselves in bureaucratic limbo. The economy saw dramatic fluctuations, with the stock market swinging between highs and lows and housing prices manipulated to benefit the wealthy. Trump’s philosophy favored personal gain over the nation’s welfare, leaving many Americans to navigate an unstable economy.

Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic was a defining moment of his presidency, marked by widespread criticism. His dismissive attitude toward the virus allowed it to sweep across the country unchecked, leading to hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths. He offered unscientific remedies, such as suggesting the use of disinfectants and promoting unproven drugs, and downplayed the severity of the crisis, causing further confusion and panic. His response to local disasters, for instance, his visit to Puerto Rico, where he threw paper towels into the crowd, reflected a troubling lack of empathy and leadership.

Moreover, during his presidency, Trump distanced himself from the traditions of decency and respect that past leaders upheld. He neglected to offer condolences to families of prominent Americans who passed, such as Barbara and George Bush, choosing instead to focus on personal leisure like golfing. Trump’s lack of emotional support marked a stark departure from the dignified conduct expected of a sitting president.

Domestically, Trump’s immigration policies, which included strict border controls and deportation of undocumented immigrants, led to labor shortages, particularly in the service industry, where businesses struggled to find staff. His administration’s aggressive stance on immigration had unintended consequences, with many sectors unable to recover after being stripped of their workforce.

On the international stage, Trump’s cozy relationships with authoritarian leaders in North Korea and Russia raised alarms about national security. His handling of classified information, especially the top-secret documents stored at Mar-a-Lago, left Americans wondering what was compromised and who had access to it.

By contrast, the Biden administration has worked tirelessly to restore stability and dignity to the president’s office. Under Biden’s leadership, the economy has rebounded, and significant investments have been made in infrastructure, including road repairs, bridge replacements, and expanded internet access. His administration, though not without flaws, has prioritized the well-being of the American people, bringing a sense of civility and optimism back to the White House, highlighting the profound impact of leadership on democracy.

While sometimes criticized for being cautious, Biden’s approach to governance is rooted in diplomacy and careful planning. He brought America back to a position of respect globally, fostering relationships with allies and upholding democratic values. As Vice President, Kamala Harris has quietly supported these efforts, often working behind the scenes but prepared to step into leadership if needed.

While no administration is perfect, it’s essential to recognize the progress made under Biden, especially compared to the chaos that marked Trump’s time in office. Biden inherited a nation with a 12% unemployment rate and shuttered businesses. Yet, within a year, he and Harris turned things around, rebuilding a country on the brink of collapse.

As we move forward, it’s critical to remember where we came from and who has been steering

Your participation in the 2024 election is set to be a pivotal moment in American politics. With control of the presidency and Senate hanging in the balance, a handful of key Senate races across the nation will determine which party holds the majority, shaping the countryโ€™s legislative future for years to come. Your vote and support are critical at this crucial time.

Currently, Democrats hold a slim 51-49 majority in the Senate, which includes three Independents who caucus with us. With 34 Senate seats up for grabs in November, Republicans are determined to flip the chamber. One notable challenge is in West Virginia, where Senator Joe Manchinโ€™s retirement is likely to result in a Republican win. The stakes are high, and the outcome will have lasting consequences on the direction of national policy.

  • National political climate: The overall political environment, particularly the presidential race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, will heavily influence down-ballot Senate races.
  • State demographics and voting patterns: States like Montana, where Trump won decisively in 2020, present tough challenges for Democratic incumbents.
  • Candidate quality and campaigns: The strength of individual candidates, their campaigns, and their ability to connect with voters will be pivotal, with fundraising, messaging, and strategy all influencing the results.
  • Key issues: Voters are likely to prioritize topics like inflation, immigration, abortion, and healthcare, with candidates attempting to address these concerns.

At least seven Democratic-held seats are highly competitive this fall, particularly in battleground states. Montana, for example, is a race to watch closely. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) is trailing Republican challenger Tim Sheehy. In a state that Donald Trump won by a significant margin in 2020, Tester faces an uphill battle. The polling shows similar challenges for Democratic candidates in other key races, such as Texas and Florida.

In Texas, Trump is ahead of Harris by seven points, while Republican Senator Ted Cruz leads his challenger Colin Allred by just four points. In Florida, Trump holds a 13-point lead over Harris, and Senator Rick Scott leads Democratic challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell by nine points.

An independent candidate, Dan Osborn, is running against Republican incumbent Deb Fischer in Nebraska. Should Osborn win and decline to caucus with either party, it could further complicate the Senateโ€™s balance of power. However, past independent bids in similar states have failed to unseat Republican incumbents.

The Arizona Senate race is particularly significant, as it could tip the balance of power in the Senate. Incumbent Independent Senator Kyrsten Sinemaโ€™s retirement has opened the door for a competitive contest between Democrat Ruben Gallego and Republican Kari Lake.

Ruben Gallego, a five-term Democratic congressman and Iraq War veteran, emphasizes his pragmatic leadership and strong support for LGBTQ rights. His record includes co-sponsoring the Equality Act and advocating for transgender rights, veterans, and LGBTQ individuals. Polls show Gallego leading Lake by an average of 50% to 42%, with strong support among likely voters.

Kari Lake, a former newscaster and staunch ally of Donald Trump, has built her campaign around issues like inflation and immigration. However, her embrace of election denialism and divisive rhetoric has limited her appeal among moderate Republicans and independents. Despite her efforts, Lake trails in most polls, and Arizonaโ€™s shifting demographics favor Gallegoโ€™s chances.

The Arizona race has taken on additional significance for LGBTQ rights. Gallegoโ€™s commitment to equality and his consistent voting record, including support for the Respect for Marriage Act, stands in stark contrast to Lakeโ€™s history of inflammatory remarks and policies hostile to the LGBTQ community. Lake has made derogatory comments about LGBTQ issues and aligned herself with far-right figures, which has raised concerns among civil rights advocates.

This election will shape the future of American politics, and Arizona could play a key role in determining the balance of power in the Senate. We need you to join us in this fight for equality. Help us get out the vote this Saturday as we canvass neighborhoods with Equality Arizona and Equality Utah. Every Arizona vote matters, and together, we can make a difference!

What If My Candidate Doesn’t Win? What Do I Do on Election Day?

A Report By: Benjamin Groffยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures

Election Day is a moment filled with hope, anticipation, and often anxiety as we vote for the candidates we believe in. However, there’s always the possibility that the candidate we support won’t win. So, what should you do if that happens? Here are a few constructive actions to consider when facing such an outcome.

  • Remember That Democracy Is About Participation, Not Just Winning

Democracy thrives on diverse opinions; your vote is a meaningful contribution to that system. Even if your candidate doesn’t win, participating in the democratic process is vital. It sends a message about your values, priorities, and what you believe is best for your community or country.

Instead of viewing the result as a failure, consider it a reflection of the broader political landscape and the desires of your fellow citizens. Democracy works because people are free to express differing opinions, and your vote, win or lose, plays a vital role in configuring the future.

  • Engage in Positive Civic Action

Remember, politics doesn’t end on Election Day. There are numerous ways to stay involved in the causes you care about. Even if your candidate doesn’t win, the issues they represent remain crucial. Consider joining advocacy groups, volunteering for community organizations, or attending city council meetings. Your civic engagement at the local level can directly impact your community more than national politics. By continuing to advocate for the issues that matter most to you, you’re helping to shape policy and public opinion, regardless of the election result.

By continuing to advocate for the issues that matter most to you, you’re helping to shape policy and public opinion, regardless of the election result.

  • Be Respectful of Others’ Views

Election outcomes can feel deeply personal, especially when we are passionate about a candidate or cause. However, it’s important to remember that democracy requires respect for differing viewpoints. Avoid lashing out at those who supported the opposition if your candidate doesn’t win. Instead, engage in respectful dialogue and understand why others voted differently.

Remember, productive conversations can lead to greater understanding and help build coalitions for future elections. Your ability to listen and engage constructively can influence future political outcomes. By continuing to advocate for the issues that matter most to you, you’re helping to shape policy and public opinion, regardless of the election result.

  • Prepare for the Next Election

The results of one election are not the end of the story. Candidates and policies evolve, and new elections will always come. Take this time to reflect on why your candidate didn’t win. Were their policies too out of step with the electorate? Was the campaign messaging weak? Understanding these factors can help you become a more informed voter and activist in the next election cycle.

Consider getting involved in the early stages of the next campaign. Whether you work on voter registration drives, participate in debates, or even consider running for local office yourself, the future is always open to those who stay engaged.

  • Stay Informed and Hold Leaders Accountable

Regardless of who wins, it’s crucial to stay informed about what elected leaders are doing once they are in office. Please pay attention to their decisions and promises they keep or fail to keep. Even if your preferred candidate loses, your role as a constituent remains critical. You can hold elected officials accountable by writing letters, making phone calls, or organizing petitions. Democracy doesn’t end at the ballot box. Citizens’ ongoing scrutiny and engagement ensure that leaders remain responsive to the people’s needs.

Democracy doesn’t end at the ballot box. Citizens’ ongoing scrutiny and engagement ensure that leaders remain responsive to the people’s needs.

  • Take Care of Your Emotional Well-Being

Elections can be emotionally taxing if you heavily invest in a particular candidate or outcome. If the result doesn’t go your way, it’s natural to feel disappointed or frustrated. Take some time to process your emotions healthily. Talk to friends or family members about your feelings, participate in activities that bring you joy and distract you from disappointment, or take a break from politics altogether for a few days to give yourself a mental reset. Remember, it’s okay to feel disappointed, but it’s important to take care of yourself during these times.

Maintaining your emotional well-being is essential for yourself and your ability to continue contributing positively to political discussions and future elections.

Conclusion

If your candidate doesn’t win on Election Day, don’t despair. Democracy is a long and evolving process, and every election provides new opportunities for learning and growth. By staying engaged, respecting others’ views, and preparing for future elections, you can continue to be a positive force for the issues you care about. Your participation matters, win or lose, and it’s through this continued involvement that meaningful change happens over time.

The Upcoming Election: A Matter of Urgency

Plainly Speaking By: Benjamin Groffยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures (resharing encouraged)

As the next election looms, it’s vital to pause and consider the potential fallout of inaction. This isn’t about personal feelings towards candidates; it’s about the future course of the United States. A conservative takeover, especially by the far-right factions of the Republican party, presents a grave threat to the core freedoms and values we’ve steadfastly defended for decades. The consequences of inaction could be dire.

If we allow figures like Trump and those who share his extreme ideologies to ascend to power in local, state, and federal offices, we risk a regression of fundamental rights. Women’s rights to make decisions about their bodies, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights, environmental protections, and access to fair education are all in jeopardy. These rights were hard-fought and could be easily dismissed if we do not act now.

Think about the simple freedoms we take for granted:

  • the freedom to access accurate information
  • the freedom to speak up when something is wrong without fear of government retaliation
  • the freedom to gather with others and protestย

In an era where misinformation, conspiracy theories, and autocratic tendencies dominate the discourse, these fundamental liberties hang in the balance.

If you’re reading this, you already grasp the importance of participation. But now, we must move beyond just casting our own votes. We must empower everyone we knowโ€”family, friends, colleaguesโ€”to vote and, more importantly, vote for candidates who will uphold democracy. Your vote is not just a choice but a powerful tool for shaping the future.

The threat is not about a single issue but about ensuring that the United States remains a nation that upholds all rights, including freedoms, equality, and justice for all.

We have seen glimpses of what a conservative grip on power looks like in recent yearsโ€”attempts to undermine the electoral process, rollbacks of protections for minority communities, and the emboldening of hate groups. Imagine what that would look like unchecked.

Voting Blue in the next election is not just a partisan decisionโ€”it is a vote to preserve the essence of what makes America a place where freedom still means something.

Let us not take that for granted. Let us make sure our voices get heard and our values protected.

What Happens When the Country is Closed for Average Americans?

A Report By: Benjamin Groffยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures

A Shift in the Landscape of Freedom

Amid political upheaval, the everyday Americanโ€”who works a regular job, pays taxes, and seeks a life of routine and stabilityโ€”may question their future in an increasingly polarized society. As extreme political movements push for agendas that center around ideas of “Project 25” or the return of Trump, advocating for a strict interpretation of Christianity, suppression of women’s rights, and an aggressive nationalistic framework, the real impact may be felt most by the “regular Joe”โ€”the one who wants to live a quiet, predictable life.

For the average person, life may close in on them in such a scenario. The country may become unrecognizable, not in a dystopian fantasy, but in subtle, pervasive ways. It might start with the suppression of individual freedomsโ€”targeting what people can say, wear, or how they worship. Religious dogma could permeate public life, not as a choice but as a mandate, affecting schools, workplaces, and government institutions. The Bible in every building might become symbolic and a requirement, with legal frameworks promoting a particular religious view while leaving others on the margins.

Erosion of Women’s Rights

Regular Americans might witness fundamental changes in the status of women while going about their daily lives. With growing pressure from ultra-conservative elements, efforts to curtail women’s autonomy could accelerate. The reversal of women’s rights, particularly reproductive rights, is already in motion. In this new political order, women might have even fewer choices about their bodies, careers, and participation in public life. For many, this will mark a turning point when personal freedom can no longer be taken for granted.

The Fear of the Unknown

Fear might become customary for those not part of this hard-right movement. The “regular Joe” will likely feel caught between competing narratives. On one side, there is the quiet desperation of wanting to hold on to their everyday life, and on the other, the nagging sense that the world is changing in ways that might soon render them powerless. Whether one is bisexual, straight, or simply someone with no interest in pushing their identity into the political arena, they might start feeling stalked by the systemโ€”monitored, judged, and left wondering if their way of life is still valid.

A New “American Dream?”

In this environment, the American Dream could become narrow. No longer about opportunity for all, it may become a dream only accessible to those who fit the suitable moldโ€”racially, religiously, and socially. If one does not align with the ideals of whiteness or conservative sexuality, they could find themselves increasingly ostracized, with opportunities drying up. The path to success might depend less on hard work and more on conformity to ideals driven by far-right ideologues.

The reality could become darker for the person who comes home daily, pats their dog on the head, and watches the news. The content of that evening television might change, with media outlets pushing extreme viewpoints or censorship becoming the norm. Growing anxieties about what tomorrow holds could interrupt quiet moments of relaxation.

Where Do They Go?

If the country starts closing itself to all but those who align with this rigid agenda, the regular Joe may ask, “Where do I go?” It is hard to imagine a physical place for escape in a country that feels increasingly closed off to dissent. For many, the answer might not be in leaving the country but in finding a way to resist quietlyโ€”by forming communities with others who feel left behind, advocating for empathy and open-mindedness, and holding on to the idea that the heart of America lies not in exclusion but inclusion.

The danger is not just in the policies themselves but in the erosion of what makes America a place where people of all walks of life can live freely, with differences embraced rather than punished. When that idea is under attack, the question of “Where will you go?” takes on a much deeper meaning because the honest answer is about preserving a sense of home, not just for oneself but for everyone.

In this potential future, where does the regular Joe go? Perhaps they remain right where they are, standing in quiet defiance, continuing to pay their taxes, pat their dog, and live with the hope that balance will one day return to a nation at risk of losing itself.

Meeting Mendez

A Story By: Benjamin Groffยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures

Ralph and Kevin had been friends for over twenty years, sharing a modest two-bedroom apartment in a cozy part of the city. Both were in their fifties and lived parallel lives, working different jobsโ€”Ralph as a graphic designer and Kevin as a financial advisorโ€”but always finding time for each other. They joked about finding “the one” someday, but their hope had always been tinged with sarcasm. At their age, they felt the ideal guy might never show up.

But then something shifted.

It started on an ordinary Monday morning. They sat at the kitchen table, sipping their coffees, when Kevin casually mentioned he had met someone the night before. “His name is Mendez,” he said, a sly smile across his face. “And Ralph, he’sโ€ฆ everything.”

Ralph’s stomach did a somersault. He had indeed met someone, too. Just last night, after his art gallery event, he found himself in a dimly lit bar, the kind that seemed to exist in a world of its own. And there, perched at the corner of the bar, was Mendezโ€”a man who could only be described as strikingly handsome, with dark eyes that seemed to hold a universe of secrets, a soft-spoken charm that was as disarming as it was alluring, and a smile that could light up the darkest of rooms.

“Funny you say that,” Ralph replied. “I met someone, too. His name’s also Mendez. We hit it off.”

Kevin chuckled, taking a long sip from his coffee. “What are the odds?”

Their conversations in the following days were filled with similar stories of their encounters with Mendez. Kevin would describe how they had shared a romantic evening stroll by the river, and Ralph would excitedly mention how they had gone dancing the same night. Their descriptions of this enigmatic Mendez were eerily similarโ€”his chiseled jawline, his gentle laugh, the way he seemed to know exactly what to say to make them feel like the only person in the room. Yet neither of them suspected anything was off. After all, Mendez was a common enough last name, right?

But as the weeks passed, their mutual friends noticed something strange. At morning coffee with their usual crowd, Ralph and Kevin would each gush about their dates from the night before. They discussed romantic dinners, late-night jazz clubs, and private rooftop moments. Their stories mirrored one another so closely that their friends couldn’t help but wonderโ€”were they seeing the same man?

“Wait a minute,” said Lisa, a close friend, during one of their coffee meetups. “You both met this guy named Mendez? And you’re telling me he took you both to the same jazz club on different nights?”

The group laughed, but the tension between Ralph and Kevin grew. Were they falling for the same guy? They started to second-guess every detailโ€”his favorite wine, his weekend plans, the way he called them “his secret muse.”

Still, neither wanted to believe it. Kevin would ask, “Did your Mendez talk about his job?”

Ralph would reply, “Yeah, he mentioned something about being in real estate.”

“Same here. But, come on, we’re seeing different guys. That’s impossible.”

Finally, the tension reached a breaking point. One Saturday night, the two friends finally agreed to go out together to introduce themselves to their respective Mendez. They picked a lively nightclub known for its cool vibe and easy conversation. Ralph’s heart raced as he considered the possibility of confronting the truth.

When they arrived, they scanned the crowd, both eager and nervous. And then, there he wasโ€”Mendez, standing by the bar, smiling warmly at them.

Only to their utter surprise, there were two of them.

Ralph and Kevin exchanged bewildered glances as the two men, identical except for subtle differences, made their way over. The Mendez brothersโ€”Marco and Luisโ€”stood side by side, charming as ever.

Kevin burst into laughter. “You’ve got to be kidding me!” he exclaimed, his amusement contagious.

Ralph shook his head, grinning in disbelief. “Twins? Really?”

The four sat down, exchanging stories and laughing about the coincidence. As it turned out, Marco had met Kevin at one bar, and Luis had met Ralph at another. They had no idea their new romantic interests were roommates.

It wasn’t the love triangle they had fearedโ€”it was something far better, a delightful twist that brought them closer.

And just like that, Ralph and Kevin realized that sometimes, the universe works in mysteriousโ€”and surprisingly humorousโ€”ways, leaving them and their friends in fits of laughter.

Fight Today For A Better Tomorrow – Saving America – Coming Home

A Report By: Benjamin Groffยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures

A Nation’s Call

It was the fall of 2024, and the country had never seemed more divided. Political upheaval had peaked, with protests echoing through city streets, harsh words hurled in homes, and debates erupting at family dinner tables. The election season had become more than just a contest of policies; it had morphed into a battle over the nation’s soul, pitting neighbor against neighbor.

At the heart of this turmoil was a young senator named Jacob Randall. A man of few words but deep conviction, he had saw firsthand the devastating effects of division. Randall had grown up in a small town where his mother and father, though from opposite sides of the political spectrum, had found common ground in their love for family, faith, and community. That shared foundation had always given him hope that unity was possible.

However, as he stood before Congress, he wondered if that hope had been misplaced. The chamber was restless, with representatives glaring at one another across the aisle, the tension palpable. Randall chose to speak at what many called a last-ditch effortโ€”a desperate attempt to heal the nation before it tore apart.

Taking a deep breath, he began.

“Fellow citizens, colleagues, I stand before you not as a Democrat or a Republican but as an American. Our great nation is facing a challenge unlike any other. We have become so entrenched in our political camps that we no longer see each other as fellow countrymen. We see enemies where once we saw neighbors. And that division is killing the very fabric of our society.

“My parents did not always agree on politics. Mother was a staunch conservative, Father a proud progressive. But they understood something we have forgotten: that compromise is not a weakness but the cornerstone of democracy. They believed that every person, no matter how much they disagreed, had something valuable to contribute to the conversation.”

Randall’s words caught the attention of some. A few heads began to nod slowly. He pressed on, feeling the weight of the moment.

“Our founders, too, were divided. They had different visions for this country and ideas about what liberty and justice should look. Nevertheless, they knew that to create something lasting, they had to pull together to find common ground. And they did. That is the spirit that created America. Moreover, that is the spirit we need to rediscover today.”

As Randall continued, he saw a shift in the faces before him. Some were hard, unmoving, but others softened, listening with new ears. He was not offering easy solutions but calling for something more complicated: humility.

“When we look across the aisle, we must not see enemies but partners in this great American experiment. We have different ideas about achieving a better future, but we all want a better one. And if we cannot even agree on that, we have already lost.”

He paused, letting the gravity of his words settle in the room.

“In every crisis, there is opportunity, an opportunity to rise above the noise, the hatred, and the division. It is an opportunity to remember that we are bound together not just by the laws of this land but by the ideals it represents. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happinessโ€”for everyone. Not just for those who agree with us.”

Randall stepped away from the podium and glanced up at the gallery above. It was filled with citizens from across the country, watching with anxious eyes, waiting for anyone to bring clarity to the chaos. He saw young activists clutching signs, older veterans with tears in their eyes, and families holding hands.

“I am not asking you to abandon your beliefs. Listen to those who see the world differently. Not to argue but to understand a call for uniformity, but for unity because we cannot get found without uniting.”

The silence in the chamber was deafening. No one was shouting for the first time in what seemed like years. No one was trying to outdo the other with statistics or soundbites. They were listening.

Randall’s speech ended with a simple message: “America is not a perfect nation, but it is a nation built on the belief that we can pursue perfection together. Let us, as a people, return to that pursuitโ€”not as adversaries, but as Americans.”

As he stepped away from the podium, the room eruptedโ€”not in protest, but in applause. Representatives stood on both sides of the aisle, clapping not just for Randall’s words but for what those words represented: a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, the country could pull itself back from the brink.

It would take work. It would not happen overnight. But in that moment, something had shifted. For the first time in a long time, there was a shared sense of purposeโ€” a belief that even in the darkest of times, unity was possibleโ€”and that together, the nation could find its way back to the light.

The concept of a “chosen people” has sparked debates throughout history, especially when tied to moral, societal, and political questions. In modern times, the idea of being “chosen” is often reimagined or repurposed to justify decisions that affect minority groups.

Recently, the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce advanced a controversial bill, H.R. 736, that aims to force schools to out transgender students to their guardians. The bill, titled the “PROTECT Kids Act,” requires schools receiving federal funding to notify guardians if a student wishes to change their gender markers, pronouns, or preferred names. The legislation also seeks to dictate which school facilities these students can use, including bathrooms and locker rooms.

This legislative action raises an important question: who gets to decide the fate of vulnerable groups, and under whose authority do they claim this right? Much like the ancient notion of being “chosen” by God, this modern political move asserts dominance over others, deciding for them what is best based on a rigid set of beliefs.

The bill passed the House in 2023 as part of the “Parents Bill of Rights Act” (H.R. 5) but faced bipartisan solid opposition. Every Democrat and five Republicans voted against it, while most supported it. Despite the potential for this bill to move through the House, it is unlikely to pass the Senate or gain approval from President Joe Biden.

Opponents of the legislation, including the Congressional Equality Caucus, condemned it as an attack on transgender students’ safety. Chair Mark Pocan highlighted how, in the wake of a tragic school shooting, Republicans chose to focus on targeting vulnerable students instead of addressing genuine safety concerns.

The question of who is “chosen” can be expanded beyond ancient religious contexts to current identity, rights, and protection issues. The targeting of trans students under the guise of protecting children raises more profound philosophical questions about power, authority, and the consequences of imposing one’s beliefs on others.

The biblical idea of a “chosen people” once symbolized favor and responsibility, but that label often becomes a tool to exclude and control in modern times. This recent bill serves as a reminder that decisions made in the name of protection or moral righteousness can have far-reaching, often damaging, effects on those they claim to protect.

In the end, it is crucial to ask when the power to choose the fate of othersโ€”whether through divine claim or political forceโ€”became justified. And who truly benefits from these decisions?

The World Of One

A Story By Benjamin Groffยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures

Tom Richardson awoke one ordinary morning with an extraordinary conviction: he was the sole individual of significance. He did not consider himself to be isolatedโ€”others still surrounded him. However, in his perception, they were merely silhouettes, existing solely to fulfill his desires, frustrations, and caprices. The needs, emotions, and experiences of all others were simply ambient noise, inconsequential to the grand narrative of his existence. In this self-centered realm, Tom stood as the sole inhabitant, a solitary monarch in a realm of his own creation.

Tom was entitled, cutting to the front of lines, talking over people in meetings, and driving through red lights without hesitation. He believed the world should move at his pace, bulldozing through daily interactions with unchecked arrogance.

At work, Tom’s behavior was incredibly disruptive. His coworkers noticed how he monopolized conversations during meetings, often interrupting others and steering the discussions towards his own agenda. He frequently dismissed ideas he did not like, making it challenging for his colleagues to express their opinions freely. Additionally, Tom had a habit of taking credit for work he had not done, which created a toxic environment of mistrust and resentment among the team. His colleague Melissa, in particular, had spent months pouring her energy and creativity into a project, only to watch Tom take the spotlight during the presentation without acknowledging her contributions. Her face burned with frustration and disappointment, but Tom was already basking in the praise, completely unawareโ€”or uncaringโ€”of the hurt he had caused. As a result of his actions, the morale of the team suffered, productivity decreased, and valuable talent began seeking opportunities elsewhere. The tangible consequences of Tom’s behavior were felt deeply by those around him, and the weight of his actions continued to impact the work environment.

  • Outside the office, Tom’s interactions were just as callous. In a crowded coffee shop, he snapped at the barista for taking too long with his order. When the woman in front of him politely asked if she could move ahead to grab her drink, Tom scoffed and said, “Wait your turn, like the rest of us.” It never occurred to him that her child was crying in the car outside or that her day might unravel.

In relationships, Tom’s selfishness is all-consuming. His girlfriend, Kate, was initially patient, excusing his behavior as stress. However, as time passed, she realized that Tom’s wants and needs dictated every conversation, every plan, and every moment they shared.

“Can we ever do something I want?”

she asked one evening. Tom shrugged, dismissing her words as if they were background noise.

“It is not that important,”

he replied, flipping through the TV channels as she sat beside him, feeling smaller every second.

The world began to push back.

  • At work, Melissa and other colleagues stopped inviting Tom to meetings. His input was more a hindrance than a help. Projects moved more smoothly without his constant interruptions. The team thrived in his absence, but Tom remained blissfully unaware, believing that his exclusion was a sign of jealousy or resentment, never his behavior.
  • On the streets, strangers grew cold. People who once offered pleasantries started to avoid him. The barista, usually polite despite his rudeness, began greeting him with silent, stony indifference. Tom, of course, assumed they were having bad days.
  • “Not my problem,” โ€“โ€“โ€“ he muttered each time.

At home, Kate left. Her final words echoed through their now-empty apartment:

“You do not see me, Tom. Tom, never will you see me!.”

Tom stood in the doorway, confused and angry, unable to comprehend why she was so upset. As far as he was concerned, everything had been fineโ€”because everything had always been about him.

However, despite the growing distance between him and the world, Tom did not connect the dots. The problem, as far as he was concerned, was not him. It was everyone else. Why didn’t people understand that he was in charge of his life? Why didn’t they see that his needs were urgent, his time valuable, his presence essential? His self-centeredness was creating a chasm between him and the rest of the world, a gap that was widening with each passing day.

The final straw came one quiet evening. Tom sat in a restaurant, dining alone โ€”โ€“โ€“ a common occurrence now. He waved the waiter over impatiently, complaining about the wait for his meal. The waiter, a man in his late fifties with graying hair and tired eyes, looked at Tom and sighed.

“You are not the only person in the world, you know,” the waiter said softly, his voice edged with exhaustion. “You act like we are all here just for you, but we are not.”

Tom bristled at the remark, ready to retort with something biting to remind the man of his place. However, the waiter’s words hung in the air momentarily, their truth unsettled. The weight of his words, heavy with truth, began to sink in, stirring something deep within Tom.

For the first time in a long time, Tom looked around. The restaurant was filled with peopleโ€”couples sharing meals, families laughing, servers rushing between tables. Each of them had their own stories, struggles, and lives. They were not shadows. They were not here for him. They were living their own lives, just as vivid and real as his.

The weight of it settled on Tom like a cold wave. For years, he had moved through the world as if it were his stage, oblivious to the people around him. He had interrupted their lives, stepped over their feelings, and demanded their attention without a second thought. He had bulldozed his way through, never considering the damage he left behind.

And then, in a moment that would change his life, he saw it. For the first time, Tom indeed saw the world around him, not as a stage for his performance, but as a rich tapestry of lives, each as important as his own.

Tom left the restaurant without finishing his meal, the waiter’s words echoing in his mind. As he walked down the street, past people he had never noticed, a strange feeling stirred in himโ€”something akin to humility, though he would not have called it that. It was a shift in his attitude and his perception of the world.

The world did not revolve around himโ€”it never had. Perhaps, for the first time in his life, Tom realized just how much he had lost because of it.

As just as he did, not expecting for it to happen, Jesus Christ popped in and said he is going to vote for Kamala Harris!

The End

Elmer’s Forgotten Ending

A Story By: Benjamin Groffยฉ Groff Media 2024ยฉ Truth Endures

At 85, Elmer had circled the globe twice, a testament to his adventurous spirit. He was known as a reliable friend to his neighbors, colleagues, and family, earning their trust and respect. His life was a rich tapestry of experiences woven from the people he met and the challenges he overcame.

No one knew that since 80, Elmer had been slowly forgetting things. Elmer lived alone, having never had children. The love of his life, Bill, had been his husband. Together, they built a home and a life they had fought for since the 1960s. But Bill had died in the 1990s of AIDS, leaving Elmer to quietly close himself off from the world, no longer inviting people into his home.

In the last five years, Elmer had taken to raising quarter horses, finding solace in their company. But as time passed, he needed help to keep up with them. Elmer would leave gates open and have to chase the horses down or forget to feed them on time. Once, after a late ride, he left a horse saddled overnight. The guilt he felt was overwhelming, and he knew something was wrong.

A visit to the doctor revealed a possible explanation: lack of sleep and depression, likely linked to his grief over Bill’s passing.

Determined to regain control, Elmer began taking medication to lift his spirits and help him sleep. He convinced himself he could manage. On Wednesday, Elmer had an appointment with a buyer interested in purchasing two of his horses. He thought selling them might relieve some of the pressure, leaving him with only one horse to tend to.

But Elmer had other concerns. He now shared his home with a group of stray cats that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, along with his faithful companion, Roger, a golden-eyed Saint Bernard. Roger was more than just a pet; he was Elmer’s protector, especially when the owner began drinking whiskey.

Elmer tried to manage his responsibilitiesโ€”his horses, cats, dog, and the home he had shared with Billโ€”but his mind kept slipping. He believed that Bill might still come home, even calling Bill’s sister, Matilda, to ask if she’d seen him. Matilda gently reminded him that Bill had passed away years ago.

Realizing he had let his secret slip, Elmer quickly covered by asking if she had seen a particular picture of Bill.

Matilda, sensing something was wrong, insisted on visiting.

“Elmer, damn it, I need to see you. I haven’t been over in two years, and it’s time we have dinner!”ย

Matilda demanded.

Caught off guard, Elmer couldn’t refuse.

“In the morning would be fine,”

He replied, resigned to the visit.

After hanging up, Elmer sorted through his mail and found a late notice from the electric company. He had forgotten to pay his bill, and the power got scheduled to be disconnected the next day. Frustrated, Elmer called the company, only to learn he had missed several payments. He assured them he would take care of it first thing in the morning.

Elmer hung up the phone, the weight of the day pressing down on him. His forgetfulness had become more frequent and more troubling. Once, he ended up in a faraway town, wondering how he got there. He had forgotten the names of his horses, even his dog Roger, and once needed help figuring out what his car keys were for.

That evening, Elmer and Roger settled into the family room to watch a news program, a series on Alzheimer’s. The more Elmer watched, the more convinced he became that he was suffering from the disease. The thought terrified him. He looked at Roger and grumbled,

“I’ll be damned if I’m going out like that! I’m going out on top, not lingering around aloof and half-quacking!”

Determined to end his life on his terms, Elmer went to the liquor cabinet, packed five large bottles of whiskey into a box, grabbed some water, and called for Roger to get into the truck. He was visiting their favorite spot to watch the sunsetโ€”his and Bill’s particular spot. There, he planned to drink himself into oblivion and end his life.

As they arrived at the overlook, Elmer realized with a bitter laugh that he had forgotten the gun he intended to use.

“Shit! I forgot the gun to shoot myself with!”

He muttered. Searching for an alternative, he looked for a rope to hang himself, but that too was missing.

“Well, shit, Roger! I don’t have a rope.”

Roger, ever loyal, had been trained by a local bartender to remove the keys from Elmer’s truck whenever the pet’s master started drinking heavily. As Elmer continued drinking, Roger did just that, hiding the keys.

Now thoroughly drunk, Elmer looked at Roger and slurred,

“What the hell did we come out here for?”ย

He was confused, unable to remember his grim plan. By

2:00 AM, the sky was pitch dark, and both man and dog were asleep in the truck.

Back at Elmer’s home, the morning brought concern.

Matilda arrived, along with the horse buyer and the electric company. But Elmer was nowhere to be found. Sensing something was wrong, Matilda called out to the others,

“Elmer would never allow a cat inside his house; something is wrong here!”

The electric company worker radioed his office to report a possible missing person, while Matilda assured them she would cover the bill to keep the power on. Their primary concern was finding Elmer.

The horse buyer suggested,

“I figure Elmer’s out at the overlook like he is every year at this time. He and Bill went there every year on the 15th of this month for their anniversary.”

Meanwhile, Elmer was waking up at the overlook, groggy and disoriented. Roger, ever the guardian, brought him the truck keys.

Elmer looked at the dog,

“Roger, ‘ole boy, why in the hell are we out here? And who brought all these damn whiskey bottles?”

With no recollection of his plan, Elmer drove home, where a flurry of activity awaited him.

As he approached the gathering, he overheard someone say,

“A homeowner has gone missing, and everyone’s looking for him.”

Elmer, confused, asked, “Why are they doing it here?”

“They think this is where it happened,” came the reply.

“They think he went missing here?ย

I was here until 10 PM last night and didn’t see anything,” Elmer responded.

The man shouted to the Sheriff, “This man says he was here until 10 PM last night and didn’t see anything!”

The Sheriff called back, “What’s his name?”

Elmer, finally realizing the situation, shouted,

“ELMER!”

You’re on my damn land, damn it!”

Matilda reached Elmer, talked to him, and promised he would never be alone. She would ensure he did not get treated like others he had witnessed on television.

Matilda said,

“Elmer, you are 85. Other parts of you are more likely to take you out before the mind takes you!”

Elmer, looking around, remarked,

Matilda, you have a way of comforting the soul. Are you the one who brought all these damn cats out here and turned them loose in my house?

Matilda asked Elmer where he had been and what he had been doing.

Elmer said,

Truthfully, I don’t know. Roger and I just woke up at the overlook, and it was yesterday, today, and the 15th all coming together. I didn’t realize it.ย

Matilda confronted Elmer, saying, “Well, Roger had more to say about. In fact, a lot more. You see, he gave me this note you gave him. It is a goodbye note you put on his collar last night.”ย

Elmer’s face brightens as if a light bulb had gone on, responds,

Now I remember what I went out there for, but I just remembered that I need to bringโ€”ugh, ice.

Matilda snaps back

Nice try, old man. I know what you are thinking, and it can’t happen. You still have a reason. And you can’t die until you no longer have a reason, like it or not. Your reason is not up yet! So get used to it. You still have a Reason
