SCORES OF PEOPLE SHOT AT BLOCK PARTY BEING HELD TO CELEBRATE HOMECOMING
VIENNA, Ga. — The two people killed in a fatal weekend shooting in Vienna have been identified.
Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy said Jaquevion Jackson, 21, of Cordele, and Macaleb Jackson, 23, of Hawkinsville, were shot and killed at a homecoming block party in Vienna. Authorities say 35 other people were injured in the shooting. So far, no arrests have been made.
Authorities say the victims ranged in age from 14 to 51.
At least 50 shots were fired during the shooting, Peavy said. The sheriff said shots were fired at least two locations about a block apart.
The GBI is assisting local authorities with the investigation. The area was blocked off until around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, per 13WMAZ reporters at the scene. Continue reading here…

The suspect, who exchanged gunfire with responding officers, also died but it was unclear how the person died, interim Minneapolis Police Chief Bill Peterson said at a news conference. He labeled the incident “the cowardly acts of a violent shooter.”
The name of the suspect was not released by police Wednesday, but Peterson acknowledged: “We were familiar with who this individual was.”
Five people were wounded by gunfire, including two Minneapolis police officers. A sixth person, another officer, was not shot but suffered other injuries. All three officers are in stable condition, according to the Hennepin County Medical Center. Read more….

Man suspected in shooting of 5 people at Virginia State University, police say
The 19-year-old suspect in Saturday’s mass shooting at Virginia State University was found cowering in a campus closet more than 14 hours after police said he shot and wounded five people.
Camron Harris, who is not a student at the school, was nabbed while hiding inside the Seward Hall dorm around 4 p.m. Saturday by Chesterfield County police, Fox59 News reported.
Harris is now being held without bail at the county jail on four counts of malicious wounding and four counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the outlet.

The incident came amid a spate of mass shootings across the US over the weekend, including at an outdoor concert in Kentucky that left four people wounded.
Two children, ages 4 and 14, were among those shot in the Kentucky carnage.
Police said the shooting took place around 6:45 p.m. in Charles Young Park.

Five injured after shooting at party in Hancock County, sheriff’s office says
HANCOCK COUNTY, Ga. — Five people were taken to the hospital after a shooting at a party in Hancock County early Sunday morning.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said that around 3 a.m. deputies responded to the shooting on Beulah Highway in Sparta.
They said that multiple gunshots were fired, and that five people were taken to local hospitals. One person is in critical condition, and the other four are in stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.

4 wounded in shooting at unpermitted block party, police say
Texas Department of Public Safety and Mexia police officers responded to the 1200 block of East Palestine Avenue late Saturday night for a disturbance, according to the statement.
Upon arrival, officers found an unpermitted street party of several hundred people blocking the roadway and drinking in public.

PROSPECT HILL, N.C. (WTVD) — Three people were killed, including the shooting suspect, and one person was injured at a home in Caswell County.The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office found the victims after responding just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday to a house on Brooks Road in the Prospect Hill community.
When deputies arrived, they found four adults with gunshot wounds. Authorities said three of the four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and the fourth person was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment.
During a Wednesday afternoon news conference, officials said all victims, including the shooter, are members of the same family and the shooting resulted from a domestic disturbance.

UPDATE: Three people are dead and two are injured after a shooting Saturday afternoon at the Twin Falls In-N-Out, according to a city spokesperson.
Joshua Palmer, Twin Falls’ public information officer, confirmed those numbers, though he said in a text message officials “expect that number to be higher” as the investigation and response continues.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police are investigating a series of shootings in the area of North Clinton Avenue on Friday evening and early Saturday morning, involving one victim who died at the scene, police say.
Police say North Clinton Avenue will be closed between Avenue D and Upper Falls Boulevard early Saturday evening because of the recent crowds and shootings. An additional 75 Rochester police officers, along with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police, will help with patrols on Saturday.

SEATTLE (AP) — Police searched for a second suspect Monday after gunfire erupted at a crowded food festival beneath Seattle’s Space Needle, leaving three people dead and four others wounded, including a toddler. Another suspect was arrested earlier.
Investigators believe the two suspects were shooting at each other and, although one remained on the loose, Seattle Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Davis told a news conference Sunday night that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Police did not have a description of the outstanding suspect, he said.

Two groups fought at an unspecified event in Aurora on Sunday afternoon, a confrontation that reignited at an afterparty later that night at the Ultra Lounge nightclub, 9755 E. Hampden Ave., Denver police Chief Ron Thomas said in a news briefing.
Denver officers were already responding to the disturbance when shots were fired on the nightclub’s outdoor patio and in the parking lot, Thomas said. The shooting happened shortly before 12:10 a.m. Monday.
Houma Police Chief Travis Theriot told HTV Houma that officers responded to the intersection of Church and Main streets, and found three people suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were taken to area hospitals.
