The Coffee Pot Doesn’t Mind Growing Cold
Theme: Presence.

The coffee pot has learned something over the years.
Fresh coffee is wonderful.
Hot coffee is even better.
But neither one was ever the important part.
There was a time when someone would pour a second cup—not because they wanted more coffee—but because they wanted a little more time.
Nobody looked at a clock.
Nobody hurried toward the next obligation.
The coffee slowly cooled while stories became warmer.
The coffee pot remembers fathers explaining life to sons.
Neighbors stopping by without calling first.
Grandparents laughing at stories everyone had already heard a hundred times.
No one complained that the coffee had gone cold.
Because they weren’t gathered around the coffee.
They were gathered around one another.
Today…
The coffee is kept piping hot.
Travel mugs.
Insulated cups.
Cup warmers.
The coffee stays warm longer than the conversations.
The old coffee pot doesn’t criticize.
It simply remembers a time when people believed another ten minutes together was worth a lukewarm cup.
Perhaps we haven’t become too busy.
Perhaps we’ve simply forgotten that some moments are worth letting the coffee grow cold.
Look around your home. Every ordinary thing has a story. Sometimes, it’s really about us.
